Then that lesson would be: If you are a hardcore fan of something, and also have an equal and opposite hatred of something else, then you make yourself a very large target for an April Fool's prank. My coworker is an extreme BYU and Greenbay Packers fan. So much so that he can't stand Bret Favre since he went over to the Vikings and wears a Green Bay Packers jersey which he carefully puts electrical tape over the name "Favre" every time he wears it. This is the guy I was hoping to beat during our Fantasy Football league as he was very much in for an even bigger Fairy surprise than my other coworker. I had it all planned out. Colorful streamers that ran down from the ceiling, the woiks. It was not meant to be. But, it got me thinking of an April Fool's Day joke (yes, this has been in the works since December). I was casually mentioning it to another coworker, and discovered he was just as evil as I am. He wanted in. We didn't quite get everything we wanted, but pretty close. I didn't run streamers from the ceiling, as I wanted his desk to be as "sleeper" as possible until he gets there. Here's some shots, but even they don't convey the full extent of the things we did. Basically, we turned him into a Hardcore SuperFan of the Utes and Vikings. He is going to love it and thank us for making his desk even more awesome, I just know it! What he will initially see. This used to be a Packers pencil holder. A little switcheroo, a little printing. Voila! Bret Favre even heard about how hardcore of a fan this guy is, so he personally flew down and signed a picture of himself while we were setting this up. It's on a frame at the top of his desk, which used to house a BYU player performing a winning catch. We think he'll like this better, especially since it's signed with silver Sharpie! Just in case he doesn't feel like we addressed his fandom enough, when he spins his chair around to sit down, he will see that we left no inch uncovered. Extra things we did that you can't see too well: - His dunder mifflin paper shredder was emptied and replaced with Green Bay Packers photos. We felt this was a necessary step to take when changing who your favorite team is. You can kind of see the green and yellow a little bit in some of the pictures. - His family photos were painstakingly copied and photoshopped so that his kids and fiancee' are also joining him in his Utes/Vikings cheerleading. They are now subtly wearing Utes earrings, Vikings t-shirts, everything a loving father and future husband would want. - His kid's drawing of the Green Bay Packers was replaced with a much more appropriate purple, and also replaced with such loving words as "Minosoda vikings rock!" and kid drawings of two men, one of them holding a blob that could be a football and each saying "Dad" and "Bret Farv" under them. What dad would not love this?! - Some of the collages have silver hearts around Bret Favre's pictures. Awww! - His Packers helmet mousepad is now a Vikings helmet mousepad! Rockin'! - The most expensive item: We replaced his Riddell mini Green Bay helmet replica with a far more fitting Utes helmet. - Before he left from work today, my friend covertly slapped a Utes magnet on the back of his car. We know he didn't discover it when he left. How long it will stay there is anybody's guess. But if know this guy, he will only ask us to bring him more! He gets there earlier than everyone else. So my diabolical friend and I will get there even earlier. We are even going to set up a recording camera so we can catch every second of his surprise and joy! And then we are going to post it for the entire company and also send it to all of his sports friends! He will be so thankful that we captured this moment and shared it with everyone he cares about. My friend and I even thought about going so far as to talking to our I.T. guy, changing his password to "vikingsrule" and then also changing his desktop. But, we thought, maybe that's going a bit too far. And, we figured he'd refuse to type it in and just leave and take the day off. More work for us if he did that. |

I once knew an ogre named Numbuk. He was a good rangerfriend, an evil ogre, and messed with a fanatic. We will mourn him for a suitable period. |

My friend and I plan on bringing in our lunches tomorrow, and eating them at our desk. But in all seriousness, I do pick my marks with careful judgment. I know the people who can take a joke, even if they are outwardly upset I know when they can laugh on the inside. There are some coworkers I just would not even think about pranking. This guy is not one of them. Too bad for him! |

I'm impressed by the thoroughness. Photoshopping family photos and substituting child art is pretty awesome. |

Well, I am very tired for having gotten up an hour and a half earlier, but it was worth it. Getting video ready to upload soon. He didn't have quite the freak-out I was expecting, but he was definitely disturbed and upset (combined with morning grogginess). My friend and I were taking bets as to what item he wouldn't notice until the very end. He was betting on the photoshopped family, which maybe was true until he mentioned it out loud. The "fan" had picked up a picture frame but was doing so to clean under it, but my friend thought he had picked it up because he noticed the switcheroo and mentioned it. He actually didn't notice the purple collages I made. If I hadn't placed one down near his garbage can, I don't think he would have noticed the two collages on the outside of his desk at all. But the very last thing he noticed was actually the pencil holder. He had even taken and replaced some pens and scissors and it didn't even dawn on him. He did finally see it about 20 minutes later and called us some names. But, he took it well and we did go get him some donuts as a peace offering. I knew he was a fan of jelly filled donuts, so he was quite happy about that. In his own words though, "This is far more offensive to me than hardcore pornography." (and he's LDS) My remark, "Ok, next year I will be nicer and decorate your desk in hardcore pornography." The funniest part to me: He still has not discovered his Utes magnet on the back of his car from yesterday. It was still there this morning. I am curious to know how long it will last! |

That video is awesome, if only because you can see the rage he is holding back when he finally comes to terms with what he's seeing. |
