Sanibel Island, Florida, March 5th, 2011

A small "Bonnethead" Shark chases a fisherman's catch up onto the beach and is picked up by my 8 year old son. Here's my kids (8 and 5), and the shark they caught. (No, the fisherman is not their daddy, and yes, the shark was placed safely back into the Gulf of Mexico.)

Yes. Yes it is.

Smaller breed of hammerhead known as a "bonnethead," (or "shovelhead") but yes.

That fisherman in the background caught several of them--with his fishing rod. (He was throwing them back.) Lachlan caught one with his bare hands!

Your children look very excited and happy. They also look like they inherited your skin.

Very cute, looks like it was a very fun day.

Caught a 10 foot ~200 lb dusky shark while fishing for tuna off the coast of NC. that SOB was mean. I would have preferred a tuna....

Taly, that's a great memory for them. They'll talk about that for years. That's awesome.

I know, isn't it?

That whole trip was...the best damn vacation we've ever taken. (Above and beyond all the nice tropical caribbean destinations my husband and I have visited.) The Disney World portion, too. My kids had a blast...

Now make them watch Jaws.

Never go in the water again.
