Post subject:  What we did today (sci-fi stuff inside!)

Soooo, thanks to my mom, we found out about an art museum nearby that was going to be featuring an exhibit of costumes from sci-fi/fantasy TV and film. We took the opportunity to go today. Now, I searched all around for any kind of notification that they disallowed photography, and could find nothing. About halfway through, an elderly watchman asked me in broken English if I was taking pictures, and I said "yes." He asked me to not do it anymore, and so I didn't. He was quite nice, and I didn't mind acquiescing to the request (even though the reason anyone would want to see these is because they've already seen them in images - i.e. movies and TV, but whatevs :)). But until then, I'd gathered some pics I thought y'all might find cool (spoilered for lots of pics):

Spoiler:
So, here's the exhibit beginning:
Image

ZOMG, it's Darth Vader! From the original Star Wars:

Obi-Wan Kenobi's robe, also from the original Star Wars:

Luke's severed hand and lightsaber from Empire:

Stormtrooper helm and blaster from Star Wars and Empire:

Imperial outfit from Star Wars: "I find your lack of buttons...disturbing..."

Luke's Star Wars jumpsuit:

Ghostbusters! Dr. Raymond Stanz's very own jumpsuit and proton pack!

Something from Tron (which I've still never seen). The sign calls it a Program 'Elder':

Tyrell's robe from Blade Runner:

Pris' outfit from Blade Runner:

The Gorn! Star Trek: The Original Series:

Kirk's gaudy...uh, something. Star Trek: TOS again:

It was at this point that I was asked to stop taking pictures. So what y'all don't get to see pictures of include the Terminator's leather jacket, The prosthetic head, torso and hand of the T-1000, Batman's costume from Batman & Robin (complete with bat-nipples), Robin's costume from the '60s TV show, Jim Carrey's Riddler costume from Batman Forever, Picard's outfit from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Seven of Nine's outfit from whatever Star Trek she was on, a Klingon outfit, a Klingon Bird of Prey model from the original series, Christopher Lambert's Highlander outfit, and the actual Wicked Witch of the West hat from The Wizard of Oz. And while I'm normally a man of my word, I got weak...the guard left the room for a few minutes and I just had to grab one more quick pic...

Dun dun dun DUNNNN, dun dun DUNNNN...
Leather jacket, whip, and headpiece to the Staff of Ra from RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, Holy Grail from LAST CRUSADE

Cool, Pheona looks almost in shock.

Sounds and looks like a lot of fun.

Please see Tron. You will probably think it sucks, but..... it's time.

Omigosh, I take it the only reason you're still not there is because they closed the place up and made you leave?

Wow, good stuff. I didn't realize the Gorn costume was out in public. I'd pay just to see that (and the Evil Kirk tunic, too).

Please tell me this exhibit is coming to Los Angeles!?

Edit: Hm, can't tell. Looks to be traveling the country, has been around for a few years already. It was in Sacramento about three years ago (I vaguely remember hearing something about this, now that I think of it).

I don't quite get why museums and stuff don't permit photographs. I mean not everyone can go see things, and it makes for far better telling of friends when there's pics.
