Anyone been there for a concert? If so, what's it like? Sitting arrangements? The concert I want to see says SRO general admission, doors open 7pm, concert 8pm. I've never been there, do not understand the layout. Is there seating, or what? I've been to some places in New Orleans (Looking at you Tipitina's) that were general admission SRO, and it was exactly that. SRO.....a floor, no seats, and people forming a mosh pit crammed like sardines in a can. 100 degree temp with all the body heat, no A/C, no ventilation, and $10 luke warm piss in a cup to drink. I don't want to do that again....... |

I don't know about the New Orleans one, but the HoB here in San Diego is a two-level venue. The top level has a bar and limited seating, while the lower level has the stage and during performances, is SRO. I would expect not to find any chairs near the stage. |

Similar in Vegas as it is in SD. HoB here has the bar on the first level and a small amount of seating in the balcony. |

Thanks for the replies. I was worried that would be the case. I really want to go, but I don't do standing in a crowd, anymore. |

I said that until I had a chance to go see Hypocrisy and Decapitated. I am glad I went to the show. Saw them on Decmber 10th 2006, on the Machines at War tour. The next October, they were in a bus crash in Russia and on November 2, Vitek passed away from his injuries and Covan was unable to return to the band. The moral of the story... go see the show man. |

Another Decapitated fan! We actually saw them here on summer slaughter tour, then had tickets to see them with Amon Amarth a month later. During that month, the crash happened. So sad. As. On topic, house of blues is the same here in Dallas. Bars upstairs and down, assigned seating in the balcony, standing room only on the floor. (and if you can get into the VIP area like we did at the Dethklok show, do it, it is amazing.) |

Hypocrisy Decapitated Suffocation Fear Factory =^o.O^= Even though the headliner was one of my person favorites (CoF, FF, Carcass and Hypocrisy)... they have not been heavy enough to hang with those others for a long time. Even playing only Soul of a New Machine and Demanufacture... |

Decided we aren't going. The standing part is the straw I guess. It would be a lot to go anyways, as it's on a day my wife works, and we would be getting back home around 2 a.m. No way the wife wants to stand for hours after working all day. Maybe another time, when the artist is in a different location. I'm old enough and have seen enough artists in my day that missing one, even as much as I would love to see her, isn't going to kill me. I've been to 100's of concerts in my time. Instead, I will just use that money for a new bedroom TV Need an upgrade so I can get whole home HD dvr from DTv |

You must be going to Tipitina's the wrong nights... The ultra-touristy ones. Most of the time there's a decent amount of seating |

Most of the time there's a decent amount of seating Um, are you talking about the original Uptown, or the newer one in the Quarter? The Uptown Tip's doesn't have seating IIRC. At least the night I went to see Social D, years ago, the floor is open, SRO. Now, the newer one in the Quarter is more like a sit down place. I believe they also serve food there. |

Then caught them again after they got into their electronic phase, definitely not the same. |

As an aside, is it even possible to get the blues in San Diego? I'm having a little cognitive dissonance trying to get my head around that one. |
