Spoiler: According this site the above formula plots out to a familiar shape. I haven't verified the formula; I'll get to it, uh, next week. |

I wonder if the Bat Signal works out to be an ellipse or two parabolas facing one another if you eliminate the goofy **** in the middle. |

Probably an ellipse, Coro. Parabolas aren't something artists draw. |

I was unaware that it was possible for something to be so incredibly cool yet quite pathetic at the same time (assuming this was a legitimate attempt to create a formula that can be charted by the batman logo and not just a happy accident.) |

That's not entirely true, Kaffis. There are artist's conceptions drawn for any number of things, some of which have parabolic segments. A radar array on Mars springs to mind. Generally they're things that scientists or science fiction writers have requested the artist draw, which the Bat Signal most definitely is not, so in that respect I agree. I guess I should clarify that I was referring specifically to that particular Bat Signal. If the equation were cleaned up, the distortions in the middle eliminated, would the two sides meet together to form a smooth curve or would they join together at a pair of points that fail differentiability? |
