Even if I got an offer to relocate, my custody agreement precludes me from accepting it.

Time frame is sometime between April and the end of the year. We get specifics by the end of January, then there's a 60-day period before the first separations (unless you take an early package), mandated by law.

The packages seem to be the same as when my last site closed: 3 weeks' pay per year worked (13 for me), and we get out 2011 bonus and prorated 2012 bonus. (My max bonus is 15% of my salary.)

My overall dept head stopped by to chat. We were the last 2 in the office. She has decided to retire instead of moving to Boston. She told me to go home.

Management kept saying all day that it's not fair, we're the best team globally, and it wasn't for performance reasons. Just cost savings and strategy.

Thanks. It's just had to plan when we don't have end dates yet. We have to stay with the company until the date they give us, or forfeit the separation packages.

But for me, I kinda need to stay working as long as I can anyway, since I'm the only adult & paycheck in the household.

The ex is being scary reasonable. Even tried to display empathy. (We're putting my daughter on his insurance for 2012 so that there are no possible gaps in her coverage. More expensive than my coverage, but certainly cheaper than COBRA if I don't find work with benefits by the time my normal medical coverage runs out.)
