Seriously, the concert never fails to amaze.

This past Saturday was our 6th or 7th concert in as many years. Every year, I go for the best seats I can get my hands on. This year we were in the 2nd row, but on the end of the stage.

Didn't matter one bit, being that close made it so much more amazing. Chris, Joel, Roddy, and Dave Z all came over our way and made sure to interact with us. Maybe because we were the loudest MFers in that section, I don't know :P

Joel looked right at us and chucked a pick right to Oonagh, but we missed it. Found one later from the end of show pick throwing, though.

What a rocking concert. If you have never been and you think you would like Christmas/rock music, make every effort to see these guys in concert. Well worth the price of admission.

I saw them the first time they ever came to Utah. Saw them the second year as well, and both times I got seats in the 4th row from the stage.

However, after the last time I saw them, I will likely not be seeing them again in this state unfortunately. Not because I don't like them, far from it. They just decided to change venues to the stadium where the Utah Jazz play. And the sound system/acoustics in that place are HORRIBLE. You can't hear anything but noise, for 90% of the concert. And not because it's loud (I wear earplugs to Joe Satriani concerts and he sounds AWESOME). But because the speakers stink and there are far too many hard surfaces to reflect the soundwaves back in very bad ways.

I will say last year when I went it was nice to see a Savatage fan sitting behind me and we immediately bonded. And when they started playing their "new song from their upcoming album" the Savatage fan and I knowingly sang along because it was Edge of Thorns' "Sleep." And I do think it is nice that they are taking some really great Savatage songs and repackaging them so that a broader audience can experience them (Got to get back to a Reason, Sleep, Believe, Christmas Eve Sarajevo, etc). And hopefully it makes people dig a little deeper to see where the songs originated from. "Believe" is a great song, but it is 100x more powerful when heard in the context of the full album of Streets: A Rock Opera.

Num,
Any sound problems at a concert in a arena environment Are directly the fault of the the show production that your attending.
No production that comes in will use the in house system. they bring their own, They also have access to a huge database of information for ideal sound setup configuration and reinforcement strategies to provide the optimal sound for just about every touring venue in the world.

Granted last time I saw TSO was in a 2500 seat acoustically balanced theartre.
And our seats were right in front of the mix position.
Looking to see when they hit Phoenix and what venue.
