So my work contract is coming up. I thought end of the year meant literally Dec 31st, nope Dec 16th. So Christmas was starting to look a little grim. Along the pipe comes a new contract but it is really vague. A unknown length position as proj manager to take a company from no knowledge system to having one. Two positions available one sr one jr and my name was in the bag for it maybe and it was an hour commute one way - away.

Not super thrilled but I gave the go ahead and submitted an updated resume. Found out yesterday at my third anniversary free lunch by management that the situation had slightly changed. (Joy). It is now very likely for me to be the only one submitted for the senior position. The company came to us to fill a need so we have 0 competition and aren't submitting blindly. Commute didn't change but the "ballpark" figure would be around a 50% pay increase. It's also reorganized payment which means paid vacation and sick time (now I don't get paid without generating billable hours). We are likely to know before existing contract expires.

So it isn't a sure thing yet but it has dramatically improved since last time (commute still sucks though). I can't exactly go shopping now but it seems that it is now more likely than not that I will be able to sometime before Christmas because I will have employment afterwards.

How long is the contract? If its a year or more might be worth relocating.

Congratulations, may it lead to even better things.

Have you considered that if you take this position, it might cut down on your Glade postings? You may be affecting more people than you realize with your decision....

I just want you to know, I've tasted the joy of being right and I don't want to go back.. ;)

Btw I will say some prayers that it works out smoothly :). Gratz and Hugs!

Can't relocate. Beginning of this year I moved back in with the parents when dad turned 90 so I can help take care of the place and property. He was still nailing shingles on the roof after windstorms, pruning high branches in trees, and up on ladders cleaning glutters. I would come by weekends and do stuff but dad is WWII generation and he would just do it instead of waiting a few days. I just came back from pulling off the last stair and sanding to refinish it for example. He turns 91 in 12 days.

Glad it seems to be working out for you.

Remember who got you that foot in the door there. Easiest $1000 I ever made. :P
