I've received a lot of questions about Rivermist (Amy) and I thought it would be easiest to address them all at once since for selfish reasons it is easier on me.

Amy passed away earlier this year after a 5+ year battle with breast-cancer.

If you are a sensitive human being, please stop reading as below I go into the gory details (apologies but I need an outlet).
She fought with everything she had but in the end passed away in agony after suffering more indignations that any human should ever endure. She had four relapses and underwent a double mastectomy, leg amputation and three bouts of chemotherapy. She had two separate experimental procedures and during one of them her heart stopped and she had to be resuscitated only to awaken to another round of chemo and pain and ultimately the inability to walk and control her own bodily functions.

I like to believe in a divine plan but when a sweet, kind and gentle person is forced to endure such indignations I lose faith.

Condolences Hopwin.

She was a sweet and warm correspondent. I have only good memories of her time with the Glade. My wife's decline and death to cancer was not comfortable or clean either. Neither deserved the fate they received.

I understand the losing of faith.

I am so so sorry. That hurts just to read it.

I was with my mom earlier this year when she died of pancreatic cancer. It was really hard watching her suffer. At one point I remember asking God why he was letting her suffer so much.
I'll spare you the details, but some amazing healing and spiritual things happened amongst me, my 7 siblings, family friends, other family members, and dozens of community members...amazing spiritual things.

There isn't always such a clear cut answer to 'why.' And, quite possibly, maybe those answers had nothing to do with you so you weren't privy to them....thats why its faith. And its not easy.

I hope you find your why and your faith again.

My mother survived breast cancer. Sort of.

She did all the treatment, and she lived and was basically 'cancer free' but when she came to visit my wife and I, she had difficulty breathing, low energy, and more.

It was diagnosed as emphysema, she was on steroids, and she was going back to the doctor when she went home.

She went home 3/17. She died 3/19.

Her heart had been weakened by the radiation from the treatment.

Cancer is a tough battle and Amy must have been an amazing woman to fight the good fight for as long as she did.

I only hope that she knew how many cared for her and wished her well, though I suspect with the length of the fight, she did.

You can't do that for that long without strong support on all sides.

Rivermist was a wonderful person. I remember the concern she showed for Ven's sitation... It never occured to me that during that time she was probably suffering herself.

It must have been diffiult posting this, knowing it was going to be brought up over and over again.

You have my respect, and my condolences, and if there is anything else I can do, please don't hesitate to ask.

Be strong...

I am very sorry for your loss, Hopwin. It is tough to lose a loved one that way; I lost both parents to cancer.

"Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for You are with me."

We live in a fallen world, and evil is here because of it. God does not always prevent us from going through the valleys, but He will walk through them with us. He doesn't spare us from the disasters that come our way, but He does strengthen us and comfort us.

I pray that His comfort and compassion will wash over you, and that His peace will fill you; may His blessings surround you.
