Take a multicolored candy, like Skittles for example. Do you eat it random handfuls at a time, color grouped handfuls, one at a time, or some other way? If color handfuls at a time, do you have a particular color order? Me, I have to eat the worst ones first, almost universally the greens. First I get the greens down, then the yellows, followed by the oranges, reds and always the grape (purple) ones last. Have to save the best for last? Anyone else quirky with candy in the same way? P.S. Other than spearmint, Green candies are almost universally terrible. |

I don't eat Skittles. With M&Ms it doesn't matter. Seriously though, when eating differently flavored candies, mixed jellybeans, etc. I eat single flavors at a time. |

I like to squish my skittles together and make sandwiches. Most candies like that though I just eat one at a time, or groups of the same flavor at the same time. If its jelly bellys, I will mix the flavors for fun. |

Recently, when I've gotten a bag of M&Ms, Skittles, or other multicolored candies, I've poured out the bag onto a piece of paper, sorted the pieces, then eaten the candies in an orderly fashion. First I eat the surplus candies until all the colors are evenly distributed, and then I choose the next candy based on a round-robin system. |

I used to eat them like you do, only I'd do yellows first, then green. I never did that for candies that tasted the same regardless of color, like M$Ms, but I would do it for Starburst or Skittles. I also would generally try to eat candies in even numbers and/or on alternating sides of my mouth. As I got older, and the lemon and lime flavors sort of grew on me, I stopped organizing my candy according to flavors, but I still occasionally go back to my old candy-eating habits. |

I have several sorting and mixing habits. They're not always set in stone, either. I don't bother with M&M's, though. |

To use your Skittles example... I always ("always" meaning more often than not) throw down a small handful of whatever first comes out of the bag. Then I eat the rest one flavor at a time, worst to best. Reds first, then grape, then lime, lemon and lastly the orange goodness. |

Someone who eats reds and purples first because they're worst needs to die an infidel's death. |

My favorite skittle is the original red. But I'll eat whatever comes out. Having to pay attention to exactly what I am snacking on = inferior snack product. |

When I eat M&M's, I hold two and push them together. The first to crack gets eaten. The winner at the end of the bag gets saved to fight another day. |

For Skittles, I just open the corner of the bag and let them slide out in any order into my mouth. Now, Starbursts, on the other hand...I eat them in groups, one at a time. I'll go yellow, pink, red then orange(in order from least liked to most liked), then I'll restart at yellow. Sometimes, I'll eat a red and orange one at the same time. The combination of flavor that way can be quite nice. I can't really think of any other colored candy I eat. I don't really like M&Ms(though, I'll eat the peanut ones, but I eat those regardless of the color, when I eat those I eat the shell and chocolate first, then the peanut last). |

Where does "tear open the bag and pour the contents into your mouth" fit into the possible answers? I haven't had skittles in a long time. It's not one of my favorites. M&M's are a favorite, but I avoid that sort of thing for the most part these days. I guess my experience comes mostly from past history. |

I usually do some form of statistical analysis. If I have 5 red, 3 green and orange, and 1 lonely yellow, I'll often work on the red and green first to get everyone on an even playing field. Then I usually close my hand around them all and pick them randomly, see which one remains standing, so to speak. Sort of similar to Lenas, I guess, but more a question of fate. I'm sure this says something about my personality. God, I hope the FBI doesn't read this thread. They'll have us shut down in an instant. We're all psychos. |

I eat the red and purples from skittles, then give the rest to unsuspecting local primary school kids. I gave away 3 big bags (emptied of red and purples) for halloween, my fav holiday I currently have a full (small) bowl of red and purples sitting on my desk for late night mmo snacking |

No we're not as paranoid as you guys I guess... Plus they are mostly neighbourhood kids. Most of them were eating out of their bags as they walked along. I had the skittles along with a couple of other chewie lollies (strawberry and cream, frogs and gob stoppers) all in a bowl and let them grab it themselves. |

One handful at a time, I eat the oddball pieces first to equalize the number of each color, then eat one of each color to diminish them at the same rate. |

I rarely eat candy. When I used to eat it a lot more frequently (before diabetes) I'd tear a hole in the corner of the bag and let whatever the next few pieces were fall into my mouth. Stop, chew, try to figure out the flavors (M&Ms don't count) repeat until all the candy was gone. I'm fat, remember. The taste was secondary to consuming vast quantities of sugar. |

My friend has OCD to the extent that she sorts the candies and makes sure she has equal numbers by throwing away extras. Then she eats them in the correct order of the spectrum. Stealing a candy from her that is not the next one in sequence causes her to start all over with the throwing away to equalize. |
