Well after a year of drooling, I pulled the trigger on a new bike.

2012 Ducati Diavel

It's my first Duc, but so far it's been a blast. The thing is an absolute beast. I'm still taking it easy during the break in period, but even only going up to 6k RPM it's an armstretcher.

Totally thought I was going to see pictures of an actual baby. This contains 100% less drool than expected. Sweet bike, man!

It's no Batpod but still very nice. Congrats!

I'm guessing the drool quantity is the same, it's just coming from you instead of the baby in the picture.

Nice bike, BTW. I'm not a motorcycle fan myself but it is very nice looking.

Was expecting a dog.

Be careful okay? A friend of mine moved on due to a wreck earlier this month. I know most riders do fine, but it's still a bit raw for me.

Is the baby behind the bike?

Get better at pictures.

I'm torn between my desire to say, "Awesome, you got a Duc!" and my desire to say, "Why'd you buy an ugly Duc?" I'm not a big fan of Diavel stylistically or technologically speaking. I get it's pretty much the meanest production ride on the planet right now; trust me, I really get that ... but gah ... Ride-By-Wire Throttle Control ...

I'm not sure motorcycles are supposed to be that complex.

Still, you are thrilled with it and that's what matters; Congrats.

I love the look of that bike (and most Ducatis in general.) They always look to me like they will reconfigure into power armor.

I loved the Southern Cross series of Robotech...

I hear ya on the technology part Khross. I am also torn about it. On one hand, I'm definately a technophile, so the tech makes me geek out. On the other hand, one of the appeals to motorcyclling is the simplicity of it.

What I will say about the Diavel is that all the tech doesn't get in the way. It is a VERY visceral bike. I'm replacing a 2005 FJR1300 and one of the reasons for the change is that while that bike is awesome at what it does, you feel somewhat removed from the experience. It's a little too big, too much wind protection and the engine while marvelous is more like operating a powerful rheostat than an engine.

But...that was with Hovertanks.

The Cyclones were MOSPEADA. (Third Series, "Invid Invasion".)

Will do. I learned very early on in my riding how vulnerable you are to other drivers and your own stupidity.

Would 2 people fit on it? Or would you let me drive it. :)

Hmmm a detour to Minneapolis is possible :)

It can carry a passenger.

As for letting you pilot it yourself... Well, that is usually considered the equivelent of asking to ride my wife in motorcycle circles. So I'd have to know you *really* well before that's gonna happen. ;)

I could have sworn there were the bikes there too. Although I was confusing some of that with the Invid Invasion. Both great series.

I know zilch about motorcycles.

Looks cool, though and I'm glad you're happy with it.

Looks beastly (in a good way). How on earth would you carry a second person, though? I only see one seat; is it bigger than it looks?

Lol, Aizle

Ok, a ride will be awesome :). I don't think you would like me much if I accidentally crashed it ). How fast does it go?
