So I've had this thing for around a year or so. Took some antibiotics it went away then it came back - dentist said its infected in a bad root canal, eating through my jaw up to my sinuses and potentially into my brain. No insurance until my new contract starts and I think I need to wait a month before dental kicks in. My dentist said its going to be pretty expensive because after the infections gone they have to pull the tooth, sand or carve out the bone and graft bone in. No pain, no real bad swelling at all so I am thinking I can wait till then and save a few thousand. Thing is - brain abscess. That just sounds bad. |

You might be able to wait and nothing may happen. You might be severely damaged if you wait. Do you feel lucky? Well, do you . . . The Doctors are not going to tell you not to do it now. This is a decision you have to make. Me, I'd be scared into doing it realizing the few thousand I'd lose isn't worth the chance of a brain infection/abscess. Take pictures of Cecilia and sell them to Foamy's folks, maybe that would help. |

I'd have warning signs of pain, throbbing, fever, and more swelling before the infection got bad. At least that is what it seems from the reading. I made the choice to wait a while ago but the closer I get to actually getting it resolved the more concerned I become when the opposite should be happening. |

Can you start taking antibiotics now and such in preparation for the procedure to come when you get your contract. |

Yeah I can take them. I think the bacteria are mostly dead atm because there hasn't been any noticeable swelling in a long time. |

Ugh. "Mostly" dead. That's the worst kind of dead for bacteria. |

Not that this tidbit would help you at this point, I learned an expensive lesson ignoring tooth pain. A $100-$200 filling that I put off turned into a nearly $1500 root canal/crowning. I'd get advice from your dentist, or a second opinion about putting off treatment. If it can wait without infecting your brain and turning you into some sort of ElmoZombie, then wait it out. Me, I'd be interested in getting it taken care of ASAP. Tooth problems scare the **** outta me. Things can go bad and require a ton of expensive, uncomfortable treatment. Good luck figuring out what's going to work for you. |

Oh the dentist wanted to treat me back in Feb prior to that when I first told him about it last year he gave me a round of antibiotics and that was that. Since it happened again he wants to take care of it before it repeats again. |
