That better be your ring finger.

Does it itch?

I'll bet it's the same alien parasite that's living in my niece's foot.

Flesh eating bacteria. Amputate your finger...quickly...with a dull, rusty spoon.

You mean the bruise?

I don't think it's a bruise.

I may try that later if the cortisone cream doesn't work.

Wow - it's amazing how much more attention people pay to things like that.

If I saw something like that on my finger, I probably wouldn't notice - if I did, I wouldn't bat an eye. Just shrug it off.

That's good! I'm trying to do better about stuff.

My post was equal parts tongue-in-cheek and complete seriousness. CNN.com has featured about 3 or 4 stories in the past week about the flesh eating virus and people who are beating the odds and surviving it.

In this article, a man pricks his finger on a Christmas tree needle and nearly loses his hand, potentially his life, to the disease.

So yeah. If it hurts just the least little bit and it seems to persist, go see a Doctor.

My first guess was mosquito bite, but if it doesn't itch that doesn't seem to fit.

When did you first notice it?
When you press on it, does it feel normal, squishy, hard or liquidy?

It looks like a tiny inflammation from that picture... has your finger come into contact with anything hot? you may have just grazed it as that doesnt look bad.

This morning, feels normal, and I don't think I've touched anything.

I get **** like this all the time. Little dry patches of skin, that sort of thing. Well, not frequently, I guess, but enough that I wouldn't get overly concerned about seeing something like this on me. This may be the beginning of it, for you :D

The red splotch is smaller and doesn't look so... splotchy, this morning. I put cortisone cream on it last night and this morning, which may or may not be doing anything. Oddly enough, it didn't start itching until I put cream on it this morning. Oh well, as long as it goes away...
