Maybe it's just because I'm a bit buzzed but... |

I'm stone sober and it made me smile. So I don't think it's *only* because you're a bit buzzed. |

I liked it. It ranks up there with Joe Cocker's misheard lyrics video of "With a little help from my friends." |

To this day I have no idea what the actual lyrics are. Edit: Also, I don't know why I know this, but I do. I'm pretty sure that this was the genesis of this type of video. |

Dayum, Stathol. One of these days, I'll think to check what the song is, listen to it straight, and *then* watch the misheard lyrics video. It just doesn't work the other way, you know? Also, that song is why, for basically the entire 90's, I just ignored Pearl Jam. And it's not because it's a bad song, or whatever. It's because I'm a lyrics guy, and I can't take mumbling that awful seriously, even if it makes for a catchy whole with a lot of guitar in a style I like and generally don't hear a lot of. |

These misheard lyrics remind me of when the Glade introduced me to this one: |

Stathol wrote: To this day I have no idea what the actual lyrics are. I am pretty sure Eddie Vedder is with you in that boat. Supposedly, the original song is about how when Eddie's friend learned his brother had been killed in Desert Storm and while they were walking down the street his friend saw a flag hung on an neighbor's house. His friend, in a moment of grief and respect for his brother, saluted the flag. But the neighbors "out on the porch" gave them a dirty look because they thought they were just no-good teenage punks probably trying to humiliate them in some way, and that kind of pissed Eddie off. This is where the line "I don't know whether it's a box or in a bag" is about not knowing how his friend's brother's body would be shipped back. Since then, the song has been kind of known to be fairly tough to understand and Eddie just kind of went with that. He's even been quoted at some point saying "There's lyrics to that song?" Heh. But, yeah, supposedly they were originally about a pretty serious and deep subject. |

Huh. I always thought the line was, "I don't know if I'm the boxer or the bag". I looked up Eddie Vedder today because I was curious what he looks like 20 years later. I'll be damned if this isn't 100% accurate: Spoiler: |
