I'd love to have a rogue, but even better, save me the trouble and just put the lock pick skill up for sale on the battle.net store for any character. :p

Frankly that would be great.

If you can't figure out how to play a rogue between lvls 55 through 80, starting at 1 isn't going to help.

They should just make it like this:

Get anything to 55, make a 55 DK. Get any class to 80, make any class at 55 on that server.

Of course, Cataclysm is supposed to 'streamline leveling', so...

I think you sort of have to streamline leveling as you increase the level cap. Otherwise, it becomes a *huge* chore to level up a toon, and frankly, WoW begins at max level.

I rather disagree. I have one toon in the raiding game at max level, and I do have fun, but I'd never do it again. However, I have a dozen or so toons between 60-80 (a couple at 80), and I get bored with them instantly once i hit 80 and have to start doing instances and raids to advance further. It's not that I mind instances and raids so much, it's that I've already done it on one toon, and that's the one I'll continue doing it on.

On the other hand, starting a new character is always fun. Especially now with heirlooms!

I love levelling a toon. I love questing. That's where the game is at its best...while levelling.

No, it doesn't. There's so much content that most players have never seen and will never see because they think like you. Having played since launch, I would not trade any of my leveling experiences for starting at 80.

I agree with Talya and Khross.

In some ways, I wish that there was an option to turn off the "enhanced" exp while leveling toon by toon, as I enjoy doing level appropriate stuff, and you out level stuff so quickly these days.

I have half a dozen toons that get fairly regular play time.

Highest level is 60, and thats a DK (My "Main" is a 57 Hunter).

I honestly dont have much interest in whats going o at Max level. In fact I've never had a toon at max level in any MMO.

I did roll a level 80 Rogue on the PTR, but I only got to play him for about 15 min before they took the servers down until the nex test cycle begins...

You act as if I haven't seen that content. Ive been playing since six months after release, and with the exception of some of the old school part-time-job raiding content, I've done basically everything there is to do.

Yes, there is fun leveling stuff to do. I still love to go back through Uldaman, for example. However, the game really does hit it's stride at 80. And 70 during BC, and 60 before that.

It is people who think like this that make the games crap for non hardcores. I have never had the time to raid hardcore, I understand there is a lot of content I will never see; but when everyone pushes for only high level content, it completely removes the desire for anyone to do anything less than force through old content to reach the high end stuff. Which means someone trying to enjoy the ride to max level gets flooped.

Well, fact of the matter is, the majority of people are going to be spending the most of their time at max level. I never leveled any alts and most people never seriously level alts. Going through all of that content is boring after already doing it once. But I would prefer them not to allow people to make level 80s just because they already have an 80. Leveling up isn't just there to annoy you, it's also there to (hopefully) learn how to play the class.

That's why 55 or 60 alts is a nice, happy medium.

I get stalled in the mid 40s every time I level a new alt. It takes a big push from me to actually focus and get past it. I feel like my time would be much better spent with my 70+ alts, leveling them to 80 and getting better gear, more experience running dungeons, grinding factions and Achievements, etc.

I've leveled 3 chars to 75+ already (75, 78, and 80). I made sure to level them all through different zones as much as possible... But still they felt redundant. But now? There are no major questlines I haven't done, and probably only a handful of minor ones.

The ability to send heirlooms cross faction will help, at least I haven't done the Horde Side stuff yet.

But really, what is there left for me to experience pre 60? There are still some BC raids I haven't done yet, but nothing from vanilla.

Saving the same people from the same mobs for the 3rd time with only half attention needed isn't really my idea of a fun time.

I understand what you're saying and where you're coming from, but I also agree with Monty to a certain degree. The pressure to get to level 80 just to get involved in what the player base is doing is enormous, and I just restarted and don't even have a guild. The only thing really going on consistently below that is BGs.

Getting groups with the new tool for dungeons seems like it might improve this some, but there's some truth to what Monte is saying. In fact, I think WoW does it to a greater degree than EQ2 (for example) because the talent spec is directly tied to level, therefore encouraging max level play to have a full talent roster, while EQ2 has a much more independent setup where it's theoretically possible to max AAs well below max level, or to be max level with nowhere near max AA (like my SK for example.. 82 AAs to go).

Eh in a progression game like this I find the raiding to be more fun. Sure there are some quests out there that I had fun with, but by and large many are kill x and get y then bring it to z.

Raiding is more fun to me.

Raiding would be more fun without the need for an organized guild or a crapton of other people in specific quantities for each role. Being able to spontaneously pick up and start (and finish) any content at all without planning or preparation (and most importantly, without scheduling) would be the ideal.

Darksiege, I'm not even remotely hard core. Not even a little. I play in a seriously casual RL friends and family guild. We do 10 mans only, and we do them two nights a week for approximately 2-3 hours at a go.

Seriously not hard core. I am pointing out my own experience in WoW, however. Once I had leveled my first character to 70 (which was top level at the time), there wasn't a whole lot else to do. I could run dungeons, eventually Heroics, and I even managed to get into some Kharazhan raiding. However, all the fun happened at that level, in my estimation. The most challenging and interesting bosses, the most interesting PvP, the best quests, and of course the best gear.

As the game progresses, the Dev team has got better at making a more interesting leveling experience. Northrend helps a lot in that direction (the Wrath gate was fun, for example). That being said, Wrath really didn't get *super* enjoyable until we started hitting level 80 content.

The new "Click a button, wait 5 mins and be in a group pounding a heroic" is bloody awesome for "casuals". Its pretty awesome for everyone really.

There's a LF Raids feature too, so one can do that should they choose to.

Ha yeah true, well on that note it's better when someone else does most of the organizing and prep. I mean my prep amounts to buying a few flasks and watching the Tankspot video then showing up at the appropriate time.

If you could just pick up and do stuff without prep it probably would have to be dumbed down too far to be rewarding I think.

I actually have been doing my homework on Lady Deathwhisper so I'm more efficient tonight at my role, that's a lot of the appeal for me in raiding. It's also what makes alts and other specs more appealing, to see the game from the perspective of a tank or healer or ranged dps.

I'm going to poach you for our guild.

I'd kill to have 25 consistent raiders that just do these simple little things.

Seriously. Its 5 minutes of time. Watch the goddamn tankspot videos people. And be on time. Raid starts at 5pst. It is that hard to be online and at the instance ready to go *at* 5pm? Have flasks, health pots, food etc (food's not so much an issue with fish feasts nowadays... Personally, I eat ArPen food, but I digress).

And when you're on the raid and we wipe. Run back. Please. Quickly. A wipe is not a good time to go have a smoke/feed the dogs/wash the car/etc. Get back in the instance, rebuffed, and ready to go again. It need'nt take 15 minutes to prepare after a wipe.

Sounds harsh, but we have 24 other people on line all waiting for you to get your fix/dog food/wax off.
