I'm in total agreement with this.

Also, a moderator verbal warning should just be a reminder in those instances where one gets carried away.

Overall, I really don't see what the fuss is about. Maybe I'm kinda dimwitted, but I thought the hellfire/heckfire works pretty well.
If I want a nice, polite, sharing of differing ideas and information I post in heckfire. If I want a no-holds-barred debate where the primary focus of the thread is a pissing contest and not a sharing of knowledge and perspective, then I post in hellfire.

So you're putting bans requested by the recipients as a favor from the mods in the same boat as ban issued as a form of moderation?

Because we've only had one of the latter.

Yes, I am. Moderation is moderation.

So does that also bleed into us editing posts to change titles, edit URL code, etc at the posters request being over-moderation?

I'm curious. Because to me, over-moderation is an overactive mod staff, not a mod staff that helps out it's constituency at their request.

If you can't tell the difference, perhaps that is part of the problem. Personally, I think you're smarter than that, however.

I'm sure he can tell the difference just fine. "moderation is moderation" is silly; it is not all created equal. There also was no problem with the bans. The biggest problem since the bans is people ***** about the bans because they weren't asked for their personal approval first.

This is your opinion, not a fact. My opinion is different.

Clearly. Not all opinions are created equal, either. Those that are based on clearly silly premises like "moderation is moderation" have distinct disadvantages.

Because you say so? Whatever. Like I said, feel the **** free, but I'm not interested in playing your game. So, sure, go ahead and advocate things that run posters off. You can hangout here and post by yourself.

No, because "moderation is moderation" is simply handwaving away the differences because you say so.

You mean this game where you don't get to pronounce your opinon as if it were fact and don't get to threaten to leave as if you can just hold everyone else hostage to some need for your presence here?

I'm not surprised you don't want to play that game.

I don't really care if you take a hike. I'm not in favor board policy being decided because of you threatening to leave if everything doesn't meet your personal specifications.

Fair enough. You're letting your totalitarian streak show again (still?).

This is why we can't have any nice things...

Rynar, that last comment was crossing the line for Heckfire. That said, it wasn't exactly unprovoked. If the two of you want to pursue this pissing match then ... whatever. But this isn't the forum for it.

I did not and do not like the permanent bans either, but I cant argue with the fact that it's much less commotion now. One of them did specifically ask for it too, fwiw.
