So I'm sure you'll all want a place to discuss.

We've spent the last several months re-working the old posting guidelines. They're currently posted in General, Heckfire and Rants and Raves, as those seem to be where most of the problems occur.... And need the constant reminders. That shouldn't make you think they only apply in those sections, however.

Feel free to PM any of the Mod's if you'd like to discuss the guidelines more privately, or post here to discuss.

In which case you should be very specific as to which sections they apply, and post the rules in all those sections. If that is the entirety of the forum, so be it. Don't dance around where the rules do and don't apply.

I resent the implication that it's an attempt to dance around where they do and don't apply! :-P

I'll copy them to all the forums and make you happy. Previously they had only been posted the general forum, with the understanding that they applied to the entire board.

I really didn't think we needed copies in all the gaming forums, etc. as extra clutter.

::edit:: There! Done! Copied into all of the general forums- happier?

I don't see anything about public nudity in those guidelines. I'm very disappointed.
I happen to know for a fact that there are several people here who post naked on a regular basis with no regard for public decency or the feelings of those around them who are offended.
I demand that the moderators address this immediately and clarify which forums are designated as clothing required or clothing optional.
AND DON'T DANCE AROUND THE ISSUE!!!

I hereby declare all forums to be clothing-optional.

I'm curious. Is the intent for Hellfire to stay a quasi-unmoderated place where you can still get banned if you say the wrong thing?

I think we need some clarification on that forum.

As long as we're clear and consistent, I'm ok with that. Thanks Lenas for addressing my issue with such haste and diplomacy. Clearly the mods here are super-duper-fantabulicious.

Rules:

Dont be an ***.

This is deliberately vague. Hellfire is a simulated real life forum where people are free to express themselves as they wish. Should you choose to be an arrogant prick that is up to you, you deal with the social consequences that brings. If you get really out of control, say spam posting or disrupting the whole forum, you're gone. Once again please make use of the "Foe" function if you want to be spared a certain posters tomfoolery. If that doesnt work, and I'm not sure why it wouldnt, then you can start to think about the report button.

In an effort to be more clear, some things that are not ok:

Spamming: i.e. creating multiple threads. Posting garbage in multiple threads for the purpose of being a dick
Graphic pictures (porn etc)
Advertising

Beyond that we're taking a hands off approach.

Before this, actually, Hellfire was the only forum with stated rules.

There likely needs to be a review of the rules of the forum, but with one notable exception, Hellfire has actually worked fairly well. It give an outlet for people to the jackasses, without it spilling over onto the rest of the board too much.

These new rules are meant for the rest of the board, at this time, Hellfire excepted.

The single rule is vague, and hence there is interpretability. That said, the guidelines we have for the rest of the board are just that, guidelines... And I don't think there is a single moderation decision that people won't ***** about to some extent.

Works for me with the Hellfire exception. If it were going to be extended into Hellfire, Heckfire would need to disappear.

Which is why the setup, although suboptimal, works. If the rules applied in Hellfire, Heckfire would be redundant.

Clothing optional posters should be required to install webcams to verify status! I always wear at least my robe.

I got no problems with some guys junk flying free. I just choose not to view it on a daily basis. :)

For that matter... I do not want to log into the Glade and go "oh look... more boobs I cannot play with"

I go to a respectable University damnit... there is no shortage of women who won't do me that I can see in person.

I'm happier that they've been listed consistently, yes.

I am as displeased as ever as to the farce that is "the one rule" in Hellfire.
