When you come to a candidate/issue you have not thoroughly researched, when you vote do you........?

I have the luxury of having my actual ballot in my hands weeks before the election (WA is mail in only). So I can take the time to ponder each selection, look up info on judges rulings, candidates voting records, varying opinions on ballot measures (it's pretty amazing the stuff that the pro-pot and pro-same sex marriage crowed aren't telling you), etc... from multiple sources. I don't have to rely on the garbage (much of it false and/or misleading) in the voters pamphlet.

For this years ballot, in almost every case, it came down to voting for the asshat that I detested the least.. in most cases it was not an easy decision... Most of the ballot measures were easy.

Edit: Of course there is the downside of the huge potential for my vote to go missing (I can check after the election) in the US Mail. And the huge potential for fraud in a mail-in only scenario, where there is less oversight on the ballot interpretation process.

I do my best to look into the candidates. This particular year proved to be an exception- I had the misfortune from choosing the lesser of two evils, either Dean Heller or Shelley Berkley. Well since they are both representations of the f-ing anti-christ... I decided f it and voted for the IAP dude.

I did proudly stand by my candidate for president, despite knowing that the electoral college makes the choice and not the popular vote.

We could get 5% Obama, 5% Mittens and 90% Gary Johnson and we will get either the kookie mittens or Obama in office.

I'm registered as a permanent mail-in voter, so I always get stuff ahead of time and research prior to filling in any bubbles. The only tough votes I had this time were mayor and senator. Those took some looking into.

The issues and candidates here are decided 90 days prior to the election and since they keep dicking around my district I always print out a sample ballot while I am checking the elections board district maps. This allows me to research the issues and whichever handful of candidates are NOT running unopposed.

I vote to change the status quo.

Unless the challenger is a known antichrist like Shelley Berkley. Then the incumbent can stay... for now.

I always research the people, I've had some local resolutions and amendments take me by surprise though. Most of the time, I hold my vote.

I would vote for whoever isn't in either of the two major parties.

There's really no excuse for not being informed anymore.

But, I suppose if I really had no idea, I would abstain.
