....has got to come off...30lbs of it.

I started walking yesterday, 1.2 miles. I was on modified bed rest for the majority of my pregnancy so I have to ease back into it...plus I'm only 5 weeks post-partum...my goal is at least 2 miles a day for 6 days a week.
I can't necessarily "diet" since I am exclusively breast-feeding, but I could definitely make some healthier eating choices like cutting out all these snacks and desserts I seem to be eating all the time now.

I was supposed to go walking today, but opted to spend my spare moments catching up on household chores like cooking and cleaning and doing laundry...hopefully I can get into some sort of routine soon. (Those of you who've had newborns before are laughing at me right now, aren't you? Ha!)
I'd love to go to the gym, we have a membership, but they don't offer childcare...so walking it is for now at least.

I have a feeling you'll have no problem getting back. What you eat is the vast majority of it. Eat well and eat enough should be your priority. Grabbing some walks is perfect.

Good fats, good protein, veggies. Stay away from sugar, bread, pasta, cereals and stuff.

Congrats by the way!

Just start practicing vampire and zombie slaying for an hour a day. Wooden stakes on dummies for vampires, go for the heart. For zombies you might need to find a rifle range.

Ooh, a Hogan's Alley for the supernatural menaces. New fad idea for kids with too much money.

Kate,

For someone who has just had a new baby... you look amazing. Keep up the work and I am sure you will have no problem losing the weight

Aw thanks, ds! :)

Managed to squeeze in a quarter of a mile yesterday...that's all the baby would let me walk before she started yelling for dinner. *sigh* It's hard to work around a baby's schedule, lol!!

When my wife wanted to lose weight after our 2nd cden stehild (1st we had together) was born, I made her a wooden step 1' high with some old pieces of 2"x4" and 2"x8" I had laying around the garage. She'd just do steps up and down off it whenever she had 10 or 15 free minutes while the baby was napping and such. If you have any old wood and screws laying around, NF can make you one for free.

Got to walk about a mile or two yesterday. Between the weather and the baby, I've had lots of excuses not to get out of the house. Feels good to finally get some exercise, although when my quads started hurting when we walked back to the house, I did feel ashamed to be so out of shape. :(
Hopefully that won't last too long.

When I was a baby my dad used to mow the lawn with me on his back in a baby carrier. Maybe something like that will allow you to go for walks and keep the baby along with you.
