So I'm hoping to turn a new leaf in regards to my fitness and health. I've been getting very out of shape, at least compared to what I've been in for the majority of my life. Since beginning me last job (the one I just put a two weeks notice in at a little over a week ago), I've been slowly been getting more and more out of shape. A lot of this has to do with not having much time to do anything, and being exhausted. Between working 40-50 hours and going to school pretty much full time, I haven't had even the slightest motivation to work out in my little bit of free time I do manage to earn. Now that I'm going back to school full time and I'll have a little more free time, I plan on working out a lot more, both cardio and strength exercises.

My fiancée has been going in the opposite direction of me fitness-wise. She's now slim and sexy and I'm getting bigger. I need to put an end to this because I've always been a tall skinny guy. I'd prefer to be a tall, semi-muscular guy, but I'll take it one step at a time. That's not to say I'm big. I'm just a lot pudgier than I used to be. Currently I'm at 180 and I'd like to come down to about 165 or 160. It's funny listening to the Wii Fit Plus tell me how much I've put on in the last 4 or 5 months, when it last "saw me." I think I tacked on 25 pounds from January to April. I'm not sure why, because my eating habit was actually slightly more healthy than it had been for the entire year prior. My fiancee just tells me I'm getting old, but at 25, I don't feel it. I think a lot of it has to do with not being active and sitting around all the time whenever I'm not working or at school, as well as eating bad.

Here's my plan to getting into the shape I want:

Start playing hockey again, twice a week (1 hour sessions). I estimate this burns about 300-500+ calories each time.

-Run 1.4 miles 4 times a week (M, W, F, Su). Why 1.4 and not 1.5? I started this journey today, to test out how the run would go. I made it to an intersection that was .7 miles away from my driveway before I turned around. So I'm going to use that intersection as my benchmark for now. Eventually, I'd like to get up to 2 or 3 miles. Currently, I'm going to have a lot of work to do to get to that point. It took a hell of a lot out of me doing the 1.4m today. Around the 1 mile mark or so, I was dragging bad, but I kept up a pretty good pace the entire time.

-Upper and lower body work outs alternating days, M-Th

-Eat with my health in mind. I've already started doing this. I noticed that most of my bad eating habits circled around always having to be at work or wherever at a certain time. Because of this time crunch, I'd always settle for eating fast, nasty food. I'm no longer going to be stressed all the time to be places, at least not as much. So I should be able to take the proper time out of my day to prepare healthier meals for myself.
