So I work 40 hours a week and am taking 14 credits at school. I work out 6 times a week, but only because I can do it at home. I wouldn't have any time for it at all if I had to work out at a gym. To me, the benefit is I control the temperature and whats on the TV. Plus, I don't have to be distracted or self conscious about the hot chick that just took the machine next to me.

So I was using the website www.homeworkoutguide.com. It was great. It had 16 weeks of work-outs that some dude supposedly did to go from being in the kind of shape I was (almost same weight and height, but he is Asian and therefore has an advantage) and got down to having cut arms, 6-pack abs, and all that. I think they sold out to another company who now sells work-out products. I didn't have delusions about trying to look like that guy, but he had a good program and videos showing how he did the exercises so that I could really observe technique.

I now use www.iwantsixpackabs.com as my source. Pretty much the same kind of deal, but a different guy doing it. The only difference is he wants you to sign up for his e-mail list before he gives you the back-door URL for his website where all the guides/videos are (no login required).

The whole setup I use is:
Home resistance band set: $100
Weight bar: $20
70 pounds of weights: Have had them for years.
Exercise ball: Wife already had one
Pull-up bar: $30

So for about a year's worth of gym membership, I have the tools to get a fairly good workout at home. I've been slacking on my eating habits, but I'm still under 170 (I'm 5'9") and have been for at least 4 months now. I do strength training 3 days a week and cardio the other 3 days. We have a treadmill upstairs, but its mostly my wife that uses it. I prefer to do my running outside, even when its freezing cold.

I finally feel like I'm on a fitness program I can maintain indefinitely. It doesn't require continuous payments nor additional time getting to/from the place of exercise.

I like that site.. I think I'll start incorporating the workouts. I never know what to do and don't have a lot of equipment. This looks like it will do the trick! Thanks Screeling!

No no no, honest ..I'm not making excuses..I really want to do this. I just don't see how a six pack ab work out is for me. From the address I thought it would be some exercise routines you can do at home..I really do need help. I've had hight metabolism all my life, but lately I find weight comes out of nowhere and I have a poofy belly and jiggly butt. I want to get rid of these.

The exercises are not ab-specific. There are many different kinds of work-out routines on there. There is one that involves all body-weight exercises that hit legs, back, chest, and supporting muscle groups.

Yes, he gears it toward guys who want six pack abs. But the site's mission is to accomplish it by total body strength/fitness, not a 2 hour ab routine.

Thanks for the link, Screeling. Already signed up, and I'm looking to get started this week or next. May I ask which resistance band set you use? I see a link to the ones T.O. uses on that site, and I was thinking about getting those. Just curious what everyone else is using.

Yeah, I got the TO set too. Just to be up front about these though, some exercises require getting creative. These are resistance bands and you're not using them on a machine weighted to the floor. So some exercises will be hard to do for balance reasons.

For example: Doing a seated row beyond a certain amount of resistance requires me to use my long bar pushed up against a wall to give me something for my legs something to push against and hold me in place. Otherwise, I just end up pulling myself toward the door. If you're on carpet, it will probably be a different story.

They still work great, its just an outside observer is going to think I look crazy.

6 pack abs come with roughly 10% body fat, on men. Women I'm not sure, I want to say 14% but I'd have to look it up. Abs are made in the kitchen not the gym, they're there, you just cant see em until you get the fat off =)
