Anyone else have this? I had it when I was a kid for several years back when nobody even knew what it was...I was under great stress at that time in my life and it went away. I've had it pop up briefly over the years but I've learned to relax and not think about it so it goes away. I have a friend who is in their late 30s and it just cropped up for them for the first time. I tend to think its a psychological thing related to stress, but I have nothing to back that theory up with. |

Someone was discussing this a while back, trying to find it now. All I remember is they recommended a bar of soap... in bed with you. Dont ask why cause I dunno! I just remembered thinking "How could that possibly work? But they claimed it did, so ... *shrug* http://www.snopes.com/oldwives/legcramp.asp |

I don't know alot about this either..but I have seen patients that their legs are moving constantly when they are in bed. Just can't seem to find a position that is comfy. The people I see it in are all old, dunno about the psychological link. I always thought is was related to Parkinson's. The drugs I see used are Requip and Neurontin, they both seem to help the patients that I had with the syndrome. |

I get this sometimes too, when your leg is still, you feel a type of uncomfortable tingling sensation... it usually happends when I'm really stressed about something and can't go to sleep. I find a long shower at just the right temperature usually solves it, or go for a walk around the house for about 5 minutes... basically get less stressed. |

There are definitely two parts to RLS. The first is the "jimmy legs" as a buddy of mine calls them. The second is the uncontrollable tiny muscle twitching when you are sleeping. I have had both. The "jimmy legs" portion is all but gone but I still have the micro twitching when I sleep (according to the sleep study I had done). I take requip nightly and it does help. My understanding is the same as Kirra - it is semi related to Parkinsons (hence the muscle twitching effect). |
