I start training for this today. It is a "race" up a 38 story building in downtown Cleveland (Erieview Tower); 646 stairs; 1500+ people. Should be uber fun!

S, eriouslythough, 1500 people in a stairwell? How is that safe or competitive? You're talking shoulder to shoulder, there, if there's any kind of pack at all...

They usually do a staggered start, I believe. Probably takes all day.

I've always wanted to do one of these, actually. But I don't think my knees would be terribly happy afterwards. Like, for a few years. :)

Stairs are a ****' *****! I can do 5 minutes @ 78 stairs per minute for a total of 390 + the 20 or so steps it took me to figure out how the damn machine worked = ~410 out of 646 needed.

Lol yes, I did bad but finished. I sprinted up the first 15 flights and got dizzy so I stopped for a minute and had to put my head between my knees.

Highlight of the day, old lady repeatedly asking my friends, "Is he ok? Should we get the EMTs?"
