Our Triangle Cactus started blooming for the first time since we started it from cuttings. The petals of the flower are about 4" across, the entire flower is about 6". Blooms at about midnight, closes up at dawn. It smells very sweet and a little like... peanut butter maybe?

Reportedly this will turn into a bright red fruit in a couple weeks. (See, I knew this would fit in the Food forum :) )

Edit - Someone at work told me this is a Dragonfruit, which Google seems to confirm.

That's pretty cool. You live in Florida, right? If I am correct, you have a great place for growing all sorts of things most of us cannot due to climate. I think the best I can do where I live is maybe satsuma, but that may be pushing it.

Oh, and check out http://www.eattheweeds.com/ if you like odd food items. I may have mentioned this long ago here, but I believe the guy that does that site lives in Florida. He has some interesting stuff. Used to do YT vids, but seems to have taken a long break from that venue.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, same here, cool site. Cool cactus, too. If you get a dragonfruit, I'll be jealous.
