As a place setting on my new dining table, I plan on starting an herb garden from seed. I'm guessing I'll put out about 9 pots each with a different herb in it. I'm deciding on the herbs to pick. I think I'm pretty sold on the basics (genovese basil, greek oregano, italian parsley, rosemary, and thyme). I think I'm also going to go with some variety of mint (leaning towards apple mint or the common spearmint), english lavender, and cilantro. Any ideas on what else I can include or varietals that you may prefer?
So what types of herbs do you grow?
Eventually, I hope to extend this out and grow some large potted indoor plants like tomatoes, chiles, and perhaps even a basket of flowers, like nasturiums. But I need to start somewhere and give myself an advantage culinarily.
