(review I wrote for people at work)KFC Double Downhttp://www.kfc.com/doubledown/ "This product is so meaty, there's no room for a bun!" Chicken, 2 kinds of cheese, some bacon, and more chicken. What could possibly go wrong? Unfortunately, KFC explores those possibilities with their new Double Down sandwich.

I tried the fried version, because frankly, who needs all that salt with the grilled one, right? Point of sale on 4/15 was at the
(redacted for internet posting) location.
The chicken was as tender and juicy as anything KFC serves up, but the rest of the sandwich was pretty underwhelming. The sandwich had two barely-detectable pieces of floppy soggy bacon which did not lend much delicious bacony flavor at all. The stringy bacon was a bit hard to bite off since the rest of the sandwich was tender. The pepper jack cheese was a nice spicy touch; however with two kinds of cheese (and the only thing holding it together being two greasy pieces of chicken) this meal deteriorated into an unrecognizable mess just past the halfway mark.
I realize that the "MEAT!" concept is a marketing gimmick to get fine junk food connoisseurs like myself through the doors. Despite that fact, KFC should redesign this sandwich in the following fashion:
- Take the standard KFC biscuit and double-size it for use as a bun
- Remove one chicken patty
- Find some way to infuse the remaining chicken patty with a mild bacon flavor
- Double the bacon and make it crispy
- Put it all back together with the same cheese
- Optional cup of KFC gravy on the side for dipping or topping

Final Words: If you're a real fast food addict, try it once to say you did it; it'll probably make a good story someday. For everyone else, there are a lot more fun ways to get a day's worth of fat and salt. Don't waste your time.
