...a Tuscan bean dish?

The recipe I have calls for garlic, sage and rosemary sauteed in olive oil. Add a can of diced tomatoes and heat for 5 minutes. Add a can of rinsed white cannelini beans, salt and pepper to taste, and a tsp of red wine vinegar.

Oonagh and I both love the dish, but I can't decide what goes well with it as a main dish. For lack of better ideas, I have made white rice as a side and I have also tried tossing it with angel hair pasta. Neither a terrible choice, but it just doesn't quite complement it correctly IMO.

The only other idea I have thought of was maybe a green sauteed in garlic & olive oil (Spinach or Broccoli Rabe, perhaps)

For all you chef types out there, any suggestions with this dish? Either a side or a main dish, whichever you might think would complement it better.

I'd think it would go well with a broiled or BBQ'd white fish. Also consider it with a chicken breast basted with a light butter, chives and garlic sauce.

White rice is insufficient by itself. I love brown rice, with which it would go well, but some don't care for the whole grain goodness of brown rice.

Another thing to consider, especially as its getting cooler, is baked fingerling potatoes smothered with the Tuscan bean dish.

I'm thinking a meaty, smoked ham hock or something. But, maybe that's because I just had split pea soup this week.

I'd say that Italian sausage would pair nicely with that type of cannellini dish.

Toss it with fried calamarii and finish it with a balsamic reduction.
