The idea seemed pretty ridiculous and laughable at first, until I read this part:
Quote:
Jeremy Whitsitt, with the Department of Defense Combat Feeding Directorate, tells host Guy Raz that the extra care is needed because military bakers face unique challenges.
"One thing we like to say is, 'What would happen if you cooked a meal, stored it in a stifling hot warehouse, dropped it out of an airplane, dragged it through the mud, left it out with bugs and vermin, and ate it three years later?'" If it were a military meal, Whitsitt says, it would still be edible and maybe even tasty.
And then this part from the comments section:
Quote:
The entire purpose of the military surrounds getting the infantry soldier to where he needs to be. Jets, cargo planes, tanks, etc all exist to clear the way for the soldier to have 'boots on the ground'.
Thus, that brownie is one of the most important things within the budget of the DoD. As a veteran of the USARMY infantry, I can tell you that that little bit of chocolaty sunshine was all I had to keep me putting one foot in front of the other.
If ya'll wanna complain about our government wasting money, why not focus your ire on the Gulf Oil Spill, or lack of immigration reform? lol
Awwww! Isn't that sweet?
