I run a Star Wars D6 game on Myth-Weavers. When did players become so stupid? 4 starting characters one of whom is already injured and their ship is captured by a Robin Hood type jedi-gone-to-ground pirate, who keeps advising them that she "just wants to talk.. and maybe take part of their cargo" - they know from the reputation around the sector that she's honorable. The boarding party consists of 8 people, at least one of which is a known force user, another, they've got every reason to expect is also a force user, and 6 pirates all of whom have high powered weapons, time to line up a shot, and cover vs their 4 people, one of whom is injured and two of the others are not committed to violence. And so what do they do?? Open fire. A) Outnumbered 3.5 to 8; not smart B) Poor tactical positioning with most of your weapons discarded in surrender; even less smart C) Grenades vs Telekinesis; Really, quite stupid D) Grenades at melee range vs Lightsabers; Moving well beyond 'normal' stupidity range |

TPK them. At a certain point doing anything else is just deus ex machina, and they'll expect you to pull their asses from the fire no matter what. |

I've never administered a TPK before. I wouldn't imagine it would go over well with a bunch of forum-ites that aren't your RL friends, at least not ones who you haven't been gaming with for over 8 years. I have, as a player, been a part of a TPK, in Elf Quest of all things. At least we took most of the forest with us. I really miss Elf Quest sometimes... |

I gave them every opportunity to back down. Looks like one player is hell bent on character suicide. Think the other three are ok. I rather suspect one of them is meta gaming and badly at that. (Gm wouldn't throw an encounter we can't handle type logic) but as a tramp freighters campaign they just don't get that you're Supposed to be always outgunned |
