with several of the games, including one of my own having closed down I was thinking of replacing it. I was thinking of running another custom world DnD game, though this would be a lot different in scope from Graystone. 1. Power would be a bit lower, look for a lower point buy system. 2. Magic would be less common and limited. Wizards, druids, and clerics go out the window right away. Elves and gnomes are all but extinct. Tome of Nine swords, Fighters, monks and rogues will be the order of the day. Rangers still have their place (though I might butcher their spell list). I might allow one sorcerer or favored soul for the party, but their will be social factors working against your power (like the possibility of getting burned at the stake). 3. I'm looking at a higher (Renaissance to American Revolution) tech level. Expect firearms, clipper ships, and the occasional steam gadget mad scientist. 4. There's still going to be a lot of mystical things running around the dark places of the world. I see the PCs of being a group of adventurers out saving villages of humans from whatever nasty is plaguing them ala Van Helsig either for conviction, glory or profit. If you're a new player this might be a good place for you to warm up as you won't have to worry about being disadvantaged by not knowing about campaign settings or magic systems. So if I get some provision yes's about this we'll get you set up to view my forum and start posting the infos. |

This sounds an awful lot like d20 Deadlands. On that note, I have noticed that on this board, if you aren't running D&D or space D&D, your campaign atrophies rather quickly. Riov's West End Star Wars game is something of an oddity, and is based in a large part off of the familiarity of the license. Space D&D Star Wars games are still more successful. |

Probably more European in flavor though. That's why it's still DnD at it's core. If it happens, cool, if not oh well. |

I've never been overly comfortable with cannons and firearms in a D&D setting, but I hope I can grow. |

I'd play. With this steampunkish setting, someone should ping Farsky and Pheona. |

I may be interested in a Steampunk themed game... |

As long as a new game doesn't impact our chances to continue to swing laser swords, knock yourself out. |

I'm reluctant to call it a 'punk setting as their is still a good amount of magic and mythology around, just not as much as Forgotten Realms or even 5th Age Dragonlance. However there's certainly a plance in the party for technology driven characters. |

Why on earth would you allow ToB, given the limitations in place otherwise? |

Dunno seemed like a good idea at the time. Some of the stuff might need to get nixed though. |

I'm okay with or without tome of battle. If it's there, I'll likely use it. Without it, I still have great ideas. |

I'd be interested. I've been craving DnD since Coro's openRPG game ended. |

The reason I've wanted ToB was for crusaders and swordsages for high drama musketeers style weapon artists either as pcs or opponents. Seems like we have atleast a little intrest. It might be a day or two before I get to wright more up. |

What sort of tech level are we talking? Flying machines? Blimps/Dirigibles/Zeplins? Steampunk style walkers? Lightbulbs? Flashpowder? Dynamite? (This sounds vaguely Golden Compass-esqe in setting-- is that level of tech right? Or am I thinking too high? (not a complaint! but armored polar bears will raise eyebrows!) |

It's possible you might encounter any or all of the above but only explosives and flash powder are going to be anywhere near commonplace. Flying is going to be more hot air baloon type stuff. |

I'm still looking for an excuse to try a FATE system. |

I'd love to see a Dr. Who RPG run here. (http://www.torsononline.com/hobbies/timelord/main.htm is free online but the wikipedia article makes the system out to be crap) Sadly I dont know the universe well enough to run or or I would run one. Honestly I think a RP only (no dice) method would work better than most systems. |
