Diamondeye has a D&D game that is just starting. Rorinthas has a long running Star Wars saga game that could probably take another jedi padawan. |

I think the more traditional fantasy setting is more my speed. Thanks, bro. |

The party in DE game is short a PC tank. Fighter, paladin, warblade (good fit) would all be great. |

I am going to be a paladin soon. |

DE's game could definitely use you, as we have only 4 people playing right now. You can play pretty much any theme you want without worry of too much overlap. |

Bard would also be a good fit in this party. Bard/Warblade actually multiclass well together, too, but for a first time character, you probably want to keep it simple. We've currently got a Druid (me), Wizard (Ranelagh), Rogue (Aniko), and Cleric/Paladin (Darksiege.) |

Awesome. Tell me what I'll need to get started, and I'll get cranking. Maybe one of you can assist me with character creation? |

Start your character at ECL 4. House rules are in my game forum. We can work you in pretty briefly once you get a character made. Do you need books? What material do you have access to? |

I have access to whatever Talya can send me files for. I'll buy the books she can't give me. As I said, I'm completely inexperienced with D&D, and will need my hand held a bit in the beginning. |

Hey, do you use bittorrent at all? This link should point you to a pretty good list of D&D 3.5 books (high quality, low file size.) You can't really buy them anymore, other than secondhand, WotC discontinued the entire version of D&D we're playing. If you cannot figure out how to use that link, download and install utorrent first. (Safe, no viruses or adware.) http://www.utorrent.com/ |

THIS is the SRD which is the core rules for D&D 3.5. It doesn't contain all of the books and options, but it does have the basics. Depending on what kind of character you want to play, Talya and I had some ideas. Are you more interested in being a melee type, a spellcaster, or what? |

Melee type would be my first interest if it would fit well within the party. |

Taly suggested a bard. It is the one class that actually becomes more appealing once all of the four archetypical roles have been filled. It's also not for everybody. You say you're interested in playing a beater. Depending on what Taly plans to do with her druid, and how Darksiege is planning to build up his cleric/paladin, the group might be lacking exactly that. You playing a beater gives them more flexibility to develop their own characters. So now we get to the question of what sort of beater are you most interested in? If you figure out who you want to be, then the great build experts on this board can figure out what you want to be. |

This board is like the Home Depot's of D&D... "You can do it. We can help." (well they can not me) |

Just be careful. Playing with people that like to push it to the limit isn't very fun unless you also attempt to push it to the limit. |

Fortunately, those pushing it to the limit in this campaign are quite willing to help Rynar out as well. If it's a melee type, a straight Warblade is an excellent beginner choice. It has a ton of hitpoints, some fun maneuvers to use in combat, and can easily be tailored to most melee concepts from a knight in shining armor to a fencing master, even without any complex multiclassing. Taly and I both spend a lot of time looking at the Tome of Battle (which it comes from) and discussing it with each other, so both of us can help a great deal; Rane is fairly experienced with it too. It's available on SRD AFAIK, and it's significantly more powerful than than the Player's Handbook melee classes, which is important in such a caster-heavy party. Bard is a real possibility, but is not everyone's cup of tea and may take experience to get the most out of. |

That can be done.. but the build is going to be fairly complex to be effective, mainly because of the dual claws. The tribal type isn't hard in and of itself. |

DE and I are well on our way into character creation. What I need next is information on skills and feats from Taly before we can move any further into the process. |

Post subject: | Re: Any games with an opening? |
It's been linked before, but it should be linked again anyway. All of the core rules to the game can be found here. You can find the skills here. As for feats, I have no doubt Taly is going to try to talk you into getting some goofy ****, but you can find the basic feats here and a summary of what each one does here. |
Author: | Rynar [ Tue Aug 02, 2011 11:06 pm ] |

Thanks, Coro. For feats I'm going to need 2 weapon fighting and 2 weapon defense. I may also be forced to take martial weapon proficiency depending on how DE grades my bladed gloves. I'm seeing them as a sort of combination between spiked gauntlets and daggers. Assuming I'm allowed to proceed without, ill be taking improved trip. |

www.realmshelps.net has pretty much a complete list of feats if not a complete description of them. |
