Midgen, Science channel is probably 85% of my TV watching and I loathe the Dragon commercial. Jesus it's painful.

Still, was in context of the film and hilarious. :) I don't mind when they show a logo on something (although in some shows even that's becoming uncomfortable, a character using a screen with a GIGANTIC windows 7 logo taking up the entire right side, etc), but actually breaking out of the scene and saying "Oh wow, your car can park itself?" "Yes, it has autopark, included standard this year on the ford whatevertheshit" is just ridiculous.

It's like people only do these things because they can get paid. And that's just really sad.

I've gotten disgusted to the degree that the TV show Bones has done this.

I'm way out of the loop on commercials these days. I don't have cable and barely ever watch broadcast television. Pretty much everything I watch is on DVD or from the internet. But the other night I was pretty messed up and didn't know what to watch and when I turned on the TV an old South Park episode was playing on one of the local networks so I decided to watch that. The commercials were crazy.

montage of American flags waving in the background
"Do you love America? Do you support our troops? Then listen to Country Rock 95.1! The only All-American Country Rock station!"
Guy decked out in American flag apparel starts singing some country song... "I love Americaaaaaaaaaaa"

---

"Are you tired of being fat and unattractive? Want to lose weight without changing your diet? Then try Hydroxycut!"
Before and after montage "I lost 25 lbs using hydroxycut!"

---

Guy and his wife looking at 50" plasmas and complaining about how they simply can't afford a new TV
Announcer: "Want a new TV, but can't afford one? These tough economic times call for a new way to buy. Now you can rent to own a TV like this for as little as $99.99 per month!"

---

"LOL, do you like laughing? Then text "laugh" to 97253 and to receive the joke of the day!"

... It just went on and on. So many horrible stereotypes (like Axe bodyspray type commercials). McDonald's commercials that were like visual food-porn. I can't remember them all now, but I just found it incredible sad. 10 years ago I would have swore they were all parodies. It reminded me of the movie Wall-E.

Anyway, I'm sure the commercials on the cable networks are probably a little better, but in a way that makes it even more sad. The poor are getting bombarded non-stop with this crap. Also, there were like 5 commercial breaks in one South Park episode.

Same...although more and more, i'm starting to see unskippable commercials on the internet.
