This has the potential to be the best worst show ever.
Fox's new Sleepy Hollow series upgrades Ichabod Crane into a time-traveling Robert Langdon-type character who must save us all from the reincarnation of the Headless Horseman and make Starbucks jokes.
WOOF. Ichabod Crane has transformed from the nebbish cartoon characterinto a secret soldier in George Washington's army. Tasked with killing one of the four horseman of the apocalypse, Crane creates the Headless Horseman by slicing its head off. And then falls asleep(?) only to awaken 250 years later in THE FUTURE. This show is either the best or the very worst thing ever. And being created by Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman seems to only strengthen that statistic. On the other hand, I do like that society has embraced absurd supernatural antics to the point where a show can just jettison a character 250 years into the future because they wanted to. Here's the official synopsis:
Quote:
Ichabod Crane wakes up from the throes of death 250 years in the future to find the world on the brink of destruction and learn he is humanity’s only hope. From co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the “Star Trek” and “Transformers” franchises, “Fringe”) comes the adventure thriller SLEEPY HOLLOW. In this modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison, “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie, “Shame,” “American Violet”) to unravel a mystery that dates back to the founding fathers.
Sleepy Hollow will premiere this fall.
