I was addicted by the end of the first episode. Rarely do I find a show that, when a single installment is done, I feel physically satiated, as though I just finished a large meal.
True Detective is possibly the first.
I am of course enamored with the inclusion of weird fiction elements (and overjoyed that they picked Chambers). I can't wait to see the rest. Everything is firing on all cylinders, from McConaughey and Harrelson's performances to the fascinating story to the impeccable craft (that 6-minute tracking shot at the end of episode 4 is amazing).
After the upcoming film adaptation(s) of Stephen King's
It were announced, and that Cary Fukanaga was the director (whose only credits to that point were
Sin Nombre and
Jane Eyre, I was incredibly wary.
Now, Mr. Jane Eyre, I await your adaptation with bated breath.
