No threads about this yet? I didn't have HBO but on the urging of others I decided to start watching back episodes of this series on cable 'On Demand', and it's really fantastic so far. Mostly dark, similar to a film like Seven but not quite that dark in my opinion. Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are great playing interesting characters in an interesting whodunit. It will only be 8 episodes long then the story's over.

I was addicted by the end of the first episode. Rarely do I find a show that, when a single installment is done, I feel physically satiated, as though I just finished a large meal. True Detective is possibly the first.

I am of course enamored with the inclusion of weird fiction elements (and overjoyed that they picked Chambers). I can't wait to see the rest. Everything is firing on all cylinders, from McConaughey and Harrelson's performances to the fascinating story to the impeccable craft (that 6-minute tracking shot at the end of episode 4 is amazing).

After the upcoming film adaptation(s) of Stephen King's It were announced, and that Cary Fukanaga was the director (whose only credits to that point were Sin Nombre and Jane Eyre, I was incredibly wary. Now, Mr. Jane Eyre, I await your adaptation with bated breath.

2 more weeks. Wonder how it's gonna end?

Side note: This cast and story was so damn good, it worries me that following seasons will be let downs. Each season being a new cast, new location, new story. Gonna be hard to improve or even keep up with season 1.
