This Tuesday, 8/8, ESPN will be reinvisioning their ESPNU network as ESPN 8 "The Ocho" in a nod to the fictional network from the movie
Dodgeball, showing 24 hours of programming centered around "bringing you the finest in seldom seen sports", just like in the movie.
And everybody's making glorious "It's a bold move, Cotton" jokes.
Of particular interest (thanks to the messenger in this post), the 2016 WFTDA Roller Derby Championships will show from 2-4 am. And that's a great game to showcase, so set your DVR for a high-octane, full-contact game on wheels. (And, as I posted in the Sports section, just like last year, I'll be heading to two of the Playoff events that feed Champs this fall, and I might be officiating this year's Champs, as well)
Other standouts that have piqued my interest are the 2016 American Disc Golf Championship and the U.S. Open Ultimate (frisbee) Championship, and I'm morbidly curious as to how absurd the 2016 Sky Zone Ultimate Trampoline Dodgeball is.
If you don't have ESPN on a DVR, and the 2am air time isn't a convenient time to stream it, you can also watch the derby game (and others!) at the
WFTDA.tv website.
