Reboot of the legend.

Spoiler:
Chronologically, it begins about half a dozen years after the classic Robin Hood stories, but is an origin story. Though the movie pretends towards more historical accuracy, it isn't very accurate. They got some parts about Richard the Lionhearted correct, but the facts are horribly mangled with plot devices. This type of thing goes on throughout the movie.

While the players are all competent, parts of the movie are slow and look walked through more than performed. However, Max van Sydow is still a damn fine actor and he gives the best performance in the movie. The Merry Men are few, but good window dressing. The story takes another furtive poking at the divine right of Kings versus liberty and justice.

Spoiler:
But at least they didn't sign the Magna Carta 15 years early.

At least John, though King not Prince, is still a selfish brat.

Saw it last night. Didn't really like it.
Spoiler:
The first 2/3rds of the movie was alright, but then the plot just kinda went straight to hell. The battle on the beach was awful. I felt it was completely disconnected from the story line they had been building, and just thrown in as an afterthought. "Hey let's have a big battle and include EVERYONE." WTF.

plot points I had issues with

Spoiler:
A) WTF is up with the WW2 Landing ships?
B) The bald knight rides to Nottingham, kill's The elder Loxley, and LEAVES in time to make it to the coast in the next scene, while the battle is still going on?
C) Why do the orphans in the forest join Marian? They dont care if the people of Nottingham starve but they're willing to go to war for England against the french?

I thought it was alright. Didn't realize it was entirely a prequel. I thought it was the Robin Hood story with an earlier starting point.

To be honest I felt better walking out of that than I did Iron Man 2. IM2 I felt didn't live up to my expectations, while I expected very little from RH and came away feeling like it was better than expected.
