I may be the only one here who's a fan of
Alpha Shade, but in case I'm not: Joe just came off hiatus this week, and says he's back to stay. And if I am the only fan here, I shouldn't be. Farsky, Phe, and Khross; you guys at least need to check it out post haste, you'll love it. And probably some others whose tastes I'm not as certain about.
Check it out. Flip through a few of the recent pages to get a feel for the matured artistic style, then start at the beginning. The first chapter sees Joe feel out his artistic voice a bit, and by the second chapter the style's locked in. It's 100% beautiful, though (and vector-based; you can zoom the comic to get a surprising amount of fine detail out of it with no loss in quality!), and the story's neat. It's a long-form story-driven webcomic with fantastical science fiction concepts (very dieselpunk airships and psychic cats in an otherwise WWI era setting) and a lot of talent.
It's on its third chapter, and each chapter is graphic-novel sized at around a hundred pages. It's never been a quick updater, as they're full-comic-sized pages and.. well, you'll see when you see some of the art.. but the hiatus Joe's coming off of aside, it's 2-5 pages a month when it's rolling.
But yeah, check it out. It's got this tiny niche audience (even before the hiatus) that it totally deserves to expand.
