Josh Hutcherson was in the running to play the webbed wonder, but didn't make the cut. But his audition tape has surfaced, and it's actually pretty badass for an audition tape.

Not sure I like his jawline, but he could have easily won me over as Parker. Ah well, we'll see how the other guy fares. But, what I really want is for Sony to stop making SM movies so the rights can go back into the hands of the people who will take good care of it: Marvel.

What makes you think Marvel would do better? The only movies I see that were produced solely by Marvel were Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk. While I enjoyed Iron Man and Iron Man 2 to a lesser degree, I didn't see anything in Hulk that set is apart from the average co-produced Marvel movie (though it was significantly better than the first Hulk movie).

To me, this sounds more like fanboism than actual commentary from their comic books than on a substantial body of motion picture work.

Or this is more about the failings of Columbia Pictures than the abilities of Marvel?

Awesome video! I was really pulling for him to get the part. I've been impressed with everything that he's done so far, but especially with his character in Bridge to Terabithia. Incredible talent and an impressive resume for someone his age.

The Incredible Hulk (Ed Norton version) was the best movie, from a plot and direction perspective, of the three of them. Iron Man gets away with less because the lead character is highly entertaining on personality alone, while the Hulk simply isn't.

Your opinion of which of those 3 was better is irreverent to the question I posed to Numbuk. However, I will disagree with your opinion as I thought the "insane" soldier in Hulk was pathetic, in both script, background story and acting, and the General was only slightly less annoying and cardboard. The directing sucked.

Iron Man had some issues with supporting cast as well (as did Iron Man 2), but the overall talent/delivery was much better.

But again, as group of 3 movies, I don't see Marvel as the sole producer of their IP being leaps and bounds ahead of the average of their co-produced work.

Marvel has explicitly expressed that they are done with allowing others to change their intellectual property enough that they lose the essence of the character and, in general, make a bad movie. So they have decided to fully produce their movies themselves, so they have full creative-control.

You say you don't see a big difference between the two Hulk movies? Wow. Are you sure?

I am probably one of the biggest Ang Lee Hulk apologists out there and yet even I have no problems stating that Ed Norton Hulk is what Ang Lee's Hulk should have been. Ang Lee's movie wasn't bad (in this apologist's opinion) and I did like that he attempted to explore the psychological aspect of Hulk (which is what the character really is about). But the movie did not flow very well and there were too many liberties taken (mixing Absorbing Man with Bruce's father... who is deceased in the comics, but still the cause of his personality disorder).

To be brutally honest, I've enjoyed most of the Marvel movies that I've seen. This is including Punisher, Daredevil, and even Ghost Rider. And as much as I enjoy them, I can tell a difference with the quality and story of the Marvel produced movies than with the others. Including the X-Men and Spider-Man movies.

I think Marvel's goal was to bring the quality of their movies to a more consistent basis, so they would get more X-Men 2's and Spider-Man 2's instead of X-Men 3's and Spider-Man 3's.

This is why I would rather have Spider-man in the hands of Marvel. Because they are, in my opinion, batting three for three so far.

I don't, and that's fine that you don't. I was asking why you believe that Marvel would be such a stronger producer of their IP in theatrical media than any of the joint ventures. 3 movies, while all pretty good, isn't exactly a huge history, and in my opinion, aren't leaps and bounds ahead of the average quality of their joint ventures (I say average, because some of those joint ventures absolutely sucked, some were good, some were just entertaining).

I agree with this list, except I would put Iron Man 2 in the fantastic category because I felt it was every bit as good as the original. Not better, on the same exact level. And I would put Daredevil in the complete crap category for having the most horrible casting of the Kingpin. Also, I loved Blade: Trinity because Ryan Reynolds was hilarious.

Also, Add Punisher(the second one, not the one with Dolph) and Punisher: Warzone in there. Warzone hits Fantastic for me and The Punisher is Very Good. The original Punisher from way back would fit into the decent category because the 80s rocked.
