Does this mean Leia is now a Disney princess?

Also, "It also confirmed a long-term plan of releasing a new feature Star Wars film every two to three years — beyond the planned Episodes 7, 8, and 9."

I'm not averse to it, it's just a 'HOLYCRAPWHATISGOINGON' bit of news.

And Disney has a better chance at releasing decent films than Lucas did...

Damn beat me too it, curse your quickness! I am not sure how I feel about it, but I guess having it out of Lucas's hands gives me the "well he can't screw it up anymore!" Feeling, combined with the dread off "How else can they screw it up!"

Any chance of Disney releasing some unedited BDs of the original trilogy? :D

I... I just don't know... I want to be excited, but I want to be saddened.

Will Star Wars now contain a musical number?

Is that feasible, Müs? I've only dabbled with reading the first book of the series, but wouldn't they have to recast Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and the dead, withered black hole of joy that is Harrison Ford?

Yeah, the roles would have to be recast, but that's not a big deal to me.

Looks like the purchase included Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Sound. Which means just about every movie made from now on will, at least in part, be a Disney movie.

Maybe 7, 8 and 9 will actually be worth watching.

Is the world ready for a Jerry Bruckheimer Star Wars film?

As long as he partners with Michael Bay.

But they could give Han Solo one last hurrah and introduce his long-lost son for him to pass the torc-- err, I mean, Millennium Falcon to!

Disney please, please please. I want a dvd release of the original 3 movies, without any updating, re-creating, re editing. I want my childhood memory back and will pay through the nose for it!.

They'll let it out of the vault when it's their turn.

Also, I haven't seen any details about the deal that stipulate that Lucas *doesn't* get any influence over future Star Wars ventures, so it seems to me that it's premature to declare our childhoods safe, as of yet.

Something I didn't think about (because I assumed that it was jointly owned by Paramount, but news articles are proving me wrong on this count): this means Disney now owns Indiana Jones, too.

"1) Disney now owns all Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and ILM (the company that once owned Pixar), as well as the trademark for "Android" or "Droid". Disney will now own all intellectual property rights with some distribution and licensing exceptions based on existing deals, much like how Universal still has the Marvel theme park license for a while yet."

Surely Aintitcool is mistaken there. Lucas trademarked "droid," but I've never heard it asserted that he was able to successfully do so for "android," as well. Hell, I can't think of anytime he even uses android in canon.
