Probably Spock's Brain, although I still rather enjoy that episode.

And, thanks for bringing up ST IV. I really disliked that movie. Prime Directive, anyone?

What does st:iv have to do with the prime directive

The scene with Scotty and McCoy revealing how to make transparent aluminum (yes, I had to look that up) to some factory owner. When McCoy points out that they could alter the future, Scotty says, "How do we know he didn't invent it?" and they just blithely go on their way. Not technically prime directive, I suppose, but it irked me. Still does.

Maybe the prime directive doesn't apply to your own culture?

And that's still my favorite scene. I really like IV, but that might be because I associate that movie with a person who has gone ahead.

Its stated that the prime directive doesn't apply to humanity (IIRC its either in the Masterpiece Society or Up the Long Ladder)

However, the temporal prime directive is applicable.

Well.... Trials and tribulations statesthat Kirk violated 42 temporal regulations. So some laws probably existed

Temporaly regulations didn't exist when Kirk violated them because it was Kirk's Enterprise that discovered time travel was possible. His violations were before the rules were set in place.

Also, generally, any violation of temporal regulations that is necessary for the regulations to be put in place to begin with (for instance, stopping an alien ship from wiping out the Earth by bringing whales from the past into the present) can't be policed. If not violating the regulations causes the regulations to cease to exist (by wiping out the UFP), then they aren't really a violation, since putting the timeline back to normal would mean that there were no regulations, which would mean someone would be free to go back and change the timeline, which would cause regulations to be put in place, enforcing them would cause the regulations to cease to exist, which would mean there were no regulations, which would allow someone to go back and change the timeline, which would...

And that's why time travel is stupid, and should never be used in a science fiction story.

A number of Enterprise episodes deal with Time Travel, (though admittedly that alone could be a separate time line.)

Enterprise fell apart because of the overabundance of time travel plot arcs. It's by far my least favorite series.

It is my least favorite but had some of the best potential. Which is why it's sad.

Anyhow, yes, the time travel is really what killed that show, IMO.

I did not particularly care for this film, despite loving its predecessor. It's well-mounted spectacle, but there's a moment about two-thirds of the way in that breaks the film and cheapens it, and it's a downward spiral from there.
