My enthusiasm for this movie has been on a steady, moderate level. Not super high, not super low. I have been looking forward to this movie, but not so much that I seek out all news related to it until release day.

I've never once exclaimed, "YEAH!" or "That was frickin' awesome!" during any of the post-movie teasers or trailers. Never once... until today.

"We have a Hulk." "Roar!"

That was the thing that put me over the edge.

Not a comic reader, but she's shown up as a major player (although rarely are we sure who's side she's on) in every Avengers cartoon tv show/movie I've ever watched. She was never one of the Avengers though...she was always a SHIELD agent (or russian spy) who crossed paths with them on an all-too-regular basis.

In the Ultimate Avengers she was a member of the Avengers Initiative or whatever it was called (albeit a covert one for a while).

Ok watching that trailer again a little more closely.... I am not sure I am liking Cap's new outfit. Looks like pajamas. Bad ones.

I remain cautiously optimistic...my main area of worry is whether or not Joss can pull off stylish direction. I have no worries about the script (because it's Joss) or performances (because everyone so far has been perfect casting). It's just a matter of Joss...well, not really being an A-list director. And the shots I've seen that aren't FX-heavy haven't really bowled me over. I'd rather it aim a little higher than TV-movie style direction.

That said, a strong script and fun performances can cover a multitude of shortcomings. I'm excited for it, but I'm trying to mitigate my anticipation. And honestly, I'm a bit more excited for TDKR.

This is because you're the evil twin in our separated at birth in time and space tale.

Huh...there was a lack of Bat yesterday. Also...no Spider-Man either.

Well, The Avengers has been mysteriously lacking in the promotion department, whereas TDKR is pretty omnipresent.

Sony is apparently debuting the ASM trailer at 3am on the web tonight. So...not a great sign.

Black Widow was originally part of Hawkeye fighting the Avengers, but - like Hawkeye, Quicksilver, The Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man, and lesser heroes - she became an Avenger when she went straight.

She is actually the sixteenth Avenger (in universe 616) and her Ultimate analog (the movies are more closely tied to The Ultimate continuity) betrayed the Avengers before dying at the hands of a vengeful Hawkeye.

I think like LOTR, it has to mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Invariably there will be things that will stick sideways in die hard crawls. That's the nature of the beast of taking an established mythos and changing it to a different media.

Again like LOTR, I personally have only passing knowledge of the mythos. As a result, I guess I'm easier to please.

I like imagining her to be not-so-straight. Especially the Scarlett Johanssen version of her...

That's an odd statement, considering most of the cast of this movie was known last summer. The only person in the first 12 credits listed who did not play the same part in a previous movie is Mark Ruffalo, but we knew that from the moment Marvel parted ways with Ed Norton.

I suspect he's not looking at actors, Taly.

The only other name of note in the credits on IMDB is the writer-director...and they could not have made a better choice in that regard.

I see 9 producers listed, at least one of which is, in my experience, very polarizing.

Between Avi Arad and the lack of Fillion in the role he was born to play ...

Just no.

And yet we already knew all of this. Avi Arad has been involved in Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Captain America, and Thor. And Clint Barton was also already featured in the movie Thor.

Seems to me you're complaining about things that thus-far have not ruined a spectacular franchise.

Either Clint Barton or Hal Jordan, depending on what day you ask Khross.

In the comics, she led the Avengers after the Kree-Shi’ar War. I'd have to dig out my comics though to find out more specifics.

75% of the heroes in the Marvel U have been a member of the Avengers at some point.

This is particularly true post-Civil War.
