Any sitcom fans out there watching this? If you like the 80's, if you were a fan of The Wonder Years and you dig narration by Patton Oswalt...you will enjoy this show.

Just try not to get hung up about where in the 80's they are. Last night's episode featured the first time the Philly's were in the World Series(1980) and a song by RUN DMC that didn't come out till 87.

Is Goldberg the wrestler the dad of the show? Because I could see that being awesomely bad.

I would definitely watch that show. As well as thinking of it as the spiritual successor to the movie where Goldberg played the psycho santa claus.

Forgot to mention, but I really enjoy this show. I unfortunately started watching several weeks after it aired, but it's not a show with a plot that needs to be followed.

I definitely recommend it.

I like it too. I don't think you have to be a kid of the 80's to enjoy it.

As for when in the 80's are they? I know they throw in some mixed-up references, but the majority of what's referenced makes me think they are starting out in 87/88. They just throw some other stuff in for fun.

I think they purposefully don't try to lock down what year they're in. They mix up continuity a lot, and I am sure it's a conscious decision. The shows views the entire decade as one big nostalgic candystore, and I am fine with that. It's why Patton Oswalt always says "It was Nineteen Eighty-something..."

Unlike That 70'S Show where it started in '77 and was locked down to just a few years of "current events." This show can skip around with impunity.

The home videos at the end really add that something extra.

It was good. But one thing kept gnawing at me about Barry's crush...

"Lexi Bloom... Lexi Bloom....... Hmmm. I swear I know that name from somewhere...."
*Google without safe search*
"Ah yes. I remember now."

Her name didn't sound familiar but they did that before(I'm assuming other times that I may have missed). They used the name of a guy who(at the time) was playing for the Philadelphia 76's and the name of some character. I forget the episode. Evan Turner was the name.
