Just saw this one:

Rumor Round-Up: Johnny Depp being eyed for Doctor Strange; Jason Momoa up for Aquaman?

It seems like every morning there's another comic book movie rumor to report. I have a couple of them for you today, and both have the potential to be awesome, if they turn out to be true.

We'll start over at Latino-Review. A source for the site has told them that Marvel is interested in having Johnny Depp play Doctor Strange, and had a meeting with the actor. Depp is going to be busy filming the next PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, but the source says Disney would be willing to move things around if he does sign on to play the Sorcerer Supreme. A solo DOCTOR STRANGE film might be in theaters sometime in 2016 as part of Marvel's Phase 3 movies, but we could see him sooner if the character ends up appearing in next year's THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON in a post-credit scene, which some think is very possible.

Yesterday a rumor surfaced about Josh Holloway being strongly considered for a part in BATMAN VS SUPERMAN, and some speculated Holloway might be up for Aquaman. Jason Momoa was also recently rumored to have a role in Zack Snyder's upcoming film, and according to Badass Digest's source, it was Aquaman. Their source also says the character will only have a cameo in the film. If Warner Bros and DC are planning on filming BATMAN VS SUPERMAN and JUSTICE LEAGUE back to back, does this mean we'll be seeing most of the members of the superhero team in the first film? It certainly looks like we might, considering how many characters have been rumored for BATMAN VS SUPERMAN.

I haven't liked most of Johnny Depp's recent films, but I think he'd be fantastic as Doctor Strange, and Jason Momoa would make one badass Aquaman. However, right now these are only rumors, and there hasn't been an official announcement from Marvel or DC. I know rumors can be annoying and/or ridiculous, but I would love for these two to be true.

THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON will be released on May 1st, 2015, and BATMAN VS SUPERMAN will be in theaters on July 17th, 2015.

Someone really needs to get Marvel to demand Hugh Laurie for Strange.

Oh yes. I love JD, but he's not right for this. I can see it being horribly over the top.

I don't know. Sure, Johnny Depp is well known and recently beloved for his over the top roles. But he's capable of subtle performances, too.

"The Ninth Gate" Johnny Depp would be acceptable as Strange, I think. Now, is that the direction he'd be lead? No clue.

I'm not opposed to Depp; I just think Laurie already did all the ground work for the role.

Laurie could take the transformation of the fallen alcoholic surgeon into the incredibly powerful sorcerer in a "believable" journey of remorse, redemption and reawakening. With Depp we would get more rum jokes. It is 't about what the actor is capable of, it's about the financier's perception of what the public wants.

Depp is incredibly talented, but his serious roles do not tend to make money for the investors.

Laurie would give the director a chance to make a sincere attempt to get it right.

Oh good lord...Jason Momoa shouldn't play anything other than a mute.

I think you said perfectly what I wished to. :)

You mean over the top like Green Hornet, or is there another kind of horribly over the top?

Still haven't seen Green Hornet. Sooo... I'm going for Raell's answer.

Kevin Feige just shat all over those Strange rumors. So anything goes.

While I love Hugh Laurie, I don't like the idea of him as Stephen Strange. Not only because he's played a similar role before, but he also looks too old and isn't quite as sophisticated as I perceive Strange to be.

My ideal Doctor Strange film collaboration remains Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange and Guillermo del Toro as writer/director.
