Not the Keanu Reeves film, but a new series coming on NBC (but still based on Hellblazer).

I rather liked the film. It gets far too much hate.

Really the only part I didn't like was Peter Stormare as the Devil, but I never like Peter Stormare, so...

It looks cool, and that guys got a good dry wit, but what can he give us that other genre series have not? Guess we'll have to see.

I have never heard of Hellblazer until I saw Constantine which made me want more. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie and hope the series matches expectations.

If I remember right one of the main issues with the film was the tacked on "redemption" of the character. Regardless, I also didn't think it deserved all the hate.

TV show looks closer to the source material (at least he looks like constantine), and nice and creepy, I'm in!

They seem to be tacking that in this show as well, or so the pilot alludes. As is often the case, I have no relationship with the true source material, so I can take it at face value.

Looks like it could be good. I'd give it a go when it starts airing.

I also liked the movie. I never was dialed into the critical or fan reaction to the movie. I mean I have the vague memory of it maybe not doing as well as expected, and I chalked it up to Keanu Reeves fatigue/dissatisfaction.

Looks good to me. Only way it could be better is to cast Sting.

Wow, really? I found that to be one of the best (perhaps even the best) portrayals of the Devil I've ever seen in film. It was just the right mix of suave, brutal, perverse, understated, threatening, animalistic, etc.

No no no.

The best portrayal of the devil in film goes to ...

Ew no. That doesn't even make sense for the Devil to me.

Best on-screen Devil, period: John Glover, TV's Brimstone.

Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate is a personal favorite as well.

The Devil should be beautiful, musical and above all else, something you would desire.

So...the Devil should be played by Christina Hendricks.

He's definitely more passionate than Keanu (Of course, how can you not have more passion than Keanu). He's still sardonic, sarcastic, and the reluctant warrior, but at least he's passionate about it. I was waiting for him to wow me in the same way the movie did(-insert undying joy of holy sprinklers here-). while I definitely felt better about things by the end of the episode, it's not up to the same level of genius that that movie was (yet!). It's got a supernatural-y vibe that kinda downs me too, but that might just be the cab driver.

Also

Spoiler:
Helmet of Fate! I didn't make the connection to the name until I saw the helmet

Definitely earned another episode.

The first episode was rather exposition-heavy, but I think it's got great potential. Can't wait for the next episode.

"Gotham" is good, but I don't generally have a burning desire to watch it (I have a feeling it'll be one of those weekend marathon types after it gets a few episodes in). I couldn't care less about "Arrow" or "The Flash", not only because I don't care about the characters, but also because they both suffer from that overly-soapy live-action DC disease (that plagued "Smallville" as well). "Agents of SHIELD" kicked into high(er) gear after the HYDRA reveal, but it feels like they let themselves slide back out of momentum.

So kudos to "Constantine" for making me actually excited for the future. Seems right up my alley.

He looks more like Sting, so that's a big plus for the show.

I'll be watching it for the foreseeable future.
