- The kid playing Bruce actually grew on me. Started off weak, but well written and almost intimidating once the initial screaming grief wore off.
- James Gordon looks like he should be Russell Crowe's little brother.
- I think someone on staff must subscribe to the George Lucas school of unlikely coincidences. Oswald Cobblepot, Edward Nygma, Carmine Falcone, Selena Kyle -- all in the one episode where the Waynes are murdered?
- Nice touch with the implied ex- relationship between Barbara (soon-to-be Gordon) Sr. and Renée Montoya.
- On that note, Renée Montoya, Selena Kyle and Edward Nygma will all be about 10 years too old by the time Bruce is grown up.
- Sean Pertwee is just way too cockney and uncouth sounding to be Alfred Pennyworth.

Oh, good. I'm not the only one who thought these. Well, Selena looked like they were trying to play her off as pretty young, so that's probably passable, and I don't think the Toddler would suffer from being a bit older than usually portrayed. I'm worried that the contrivances (you missed/forgot to mention Poison Ivy, btw) are going to grate on me if this keeps up, though.

I did flinch when Alfred yelled "Oi!" At Bruce, though.

Implied? I thought they were gonna censor the screen after how hard Monotoya was eye-banging Barbara.

Which of the randomly generated DC universes is this? Is it worth watching it for its own sake and not as a completist fan?

So far it looks like it's going to be "Straight cop tries to survive/clean up his dirty police department" with a lot of winking and nudging name-drops thrown in for DC cred.

I completely missed her. At least she's young enough.

I found myself feeling pretty much entirely the same way, but the question is "Is that a problem?" The answer is, I don't know yet. I do think they've come awful close to blowing their whole load in the pilot. It is a pilot and I guess there is cause to make sure they get their point across early. After all, no one loves to murder shows in their infancy for slights both real and imagined like fox. Yeah I'll keep watching, despite the faults.

I believe that they are basing this Alfred on the newer Earth Two story line. He is a bit rougher around the edges and he was MI6? Is not shy around guns.

It was an ok Pilot. If it was me, I would have recast half the show and reshot the pilot. The opening scene in the police department was poorly done. It should have been shot much tighter and it should have been a lot darker.

The milk container Selina sole was nearly empty. Then the CGI gunshots that killed the Waynes looked...horrible. They should have saved some money and just gone with basic blood packs.

I did like Cobblepot. I want to see him eat Fish.

It was a weak start but it I think it can get better. A lot better.

I believe Alfred was MI6 in multiple continuities. He certainly was in the DCAU (which is the real DC continuity!)

I have not been able to watch any regular batman cartoon since the DCAU ended - they all sucked in comparison.

That is too bad. It wasn't a horrible show. Batman Brave and the Bold was more of a kids show. That being said, they had, by far the best Aquaman to ever appear anywhere. Beware the Batman Alfred was a gun toting bad ***. Very hard nosed.

Yeah, it was heavy on the coincidences, but for the Batman version of "Garfield Minus Garfield" it was shockingly watchable.

Didn't immediately leap to the fore of my show queue, but it was strong enough to make me tune in next week, when I was really expecting to hate-watch the pilot before dropping it entirely.

I'm cautiously interested after the pilot. We'll see how it goes.

Alfred Pennyworth is a gun toting bad ***. Beyond being a master thespian, Alfred Pennyworth was a member of the SAS. Later incarnations of Alfred Pennyworth heavily borrow from the life of Ranolph Fiennes. The Butler is awesome.

So far so good. I forgot to mention it was good to see Kub from Parker Lewis get some work (poison ivy s dad).

Honestly I'm most interested in Oswald's storyline. But the others aren't bad at all.
