Go see it. Yes there are some changes from the stage version but the singing is fantastic and on the whole very enjoyable

I was quite pleased. I've only seen "Into the Woods" once, performed by a local-ish troupe and it was...not the optimum introduction (the performance flat-out sucked). It's Phe's second-favorite play, and she too was very happy. Sad that they cut the reprise of "Agony", but it wouldn't have worked anyway.

Sadly after stage managing Into The Woods in college I've had about as much of that play as I can stand.

That represents my sole experience with Into The Woods too.. My dad was dating a woman at one time and some relative of hers was in the play, so we went. At the time, I volunteered on set construction at the local theater where I lived, so I was actually interested in going. That lasted until about halfway through the first act, by which time I'd had more than enough. In fact, it was so awful that I can barely remember how the story goes.

The movie looks like it might be worth it, though.

I'm kind of sad they didn't get Bernadette Peters or Donna Murphy to play the witch.

Meryl Streep plays The Witch.

I am way too important to be expected to speak in complete sentences.

Is the movie good for little children? I have a 6 and a 3 year old. I'm not familiar with the play.

Mmmm...it's really dark. I'm probably not the best to ask re: kids, but there's (accidental) murder, main character deaths, bodily mutilation (parts of feet getting lopped off, eyes being pecked out or blinded by thorns), adultery, and more.

Basically, if the kids are OK with OG Grimm's fairy tales (not Disney versions), then yeah, but if not, I'd wait a bit.

I wouldn't recommend it for those ages. (I'm a huge fan of the B'way show.) My 10-year-old liked it, though.

LMAO - yes, murder, mutilation, adultery, etc. are generally not desirable.

Thanks for the help
