Really, it's not that I'm a complete fanboi of Cameron's, or that I'm even particularly looking forward to this movie. I think it's just that he has the marketing machine out in full force. Well, that, and he's never pissed me off in ways that other directors (/glare Lucas and Spielberg) have ... But, this is a really interesting article on James Cameron from Wired. Probably nothing most of you don't know already, but I thought it was fun, if a bit longish for work reading.

Really good article. Honestly, the section about the new language that was created is the part that made me want to see the film the most. :)

Yeah, same here. Maybe it's that by that point in the article, he's just seeming like a D&D geek who has the money, influence (power, if you will), and ambition to create the world that's been germinating in his head for the past 30 years. Heck, I have a world (as do many of us, although it's fantasy and not sci-fi), and would love to be able to bring that vision to a movie. I have to admire him for being able to do that, under his terms.

I was admittedly underwhelmed by the teaser trailer for Avatar. Incredible word-of-mouth and impending release date have pushed it to my most-anticipated upcoming film.

I was worried this wasn't going to be top-shelf Cameron, but it's sounding more and more like it is.
