This sucks.

Spinning some STP in honor.

Yeah it's really sad. Addiction is a son of a *****. I have to say, I wasn't that surprised, but it's still unfortunate. He's pretty much been on borrowed time for 15 years now.

RIP.

The fact that he made it to 48 blows my mind.

Shannon Hoon, Kurt Kobain, Layne Staley. The grunge era singer population is getting thin. Who's gonna be next? Eddie Vedder or Chris Cornell?

This makes me even more sad.

RIP Scott :(

I think Eddie Vedder has his **** together enough that we don't have to worry about him.

Yeah, I have the impression that Cornell and Vedder are more stable than some of their contemporaries managed to be.

And Cornell bites the dust at age 52...

Which hit me the hardest. Damn it. Of all the voices of the '90s grunge/post-grunge era, his voice was by far the most unique and distinguishable. I've spent a lot of time trying to emulate his insane open-throat high notes. Nobody could do them like him. :(

RIP Chris.

So to answer my own question, I guess now we're just left with Eddie. I don't think he ever had drug problems, so hopefully he'll be around for a long time.

Losing Chris is so friggin' unexpected. God, I hope it wasn't suicide (Detroit PD is considering it).

Was revisiting Audioslave just two nights ago.

I know only two songs of his...but they're both on my playlist. (You Know My Name and Black Hole Sun)

RIP Chris :(

I'll just leave this here, because it's so relevant now. It's one of my favorite songs of his.

Lyrics:
Please, mother of mercy
Take me from this place
and the long winded curses
I keep here in my head
Words never listen
and teachers, oh, they never learn
but I'm warm from the candle
though I feel too cold to burn
He came from an island
and he died from the street
and he hurt so bad like a soul breaking
but he never said nothing to me

So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven...
So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven...

New, like a baby
Lost, like a prayer
The sky was your playground
but the cold ground was your bed
I said poor stargazer
She's got no tears in her eyes
but smooth like a whisper
She knows that love heals all wounds with time
Now it seems like too much love is never enough
Yeah, you better seek out another road
'cause this one has ended abrupt

So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven...
So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven...

I never wanted to write these words down for you
with the pages of phrases of all the things we'll never do
So I blow out the candle
and I put you to bed
Since you can't say to me now
how the dogs broke your bone
there's just one thing left to be said

So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven...
So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven...

They said suicide, but his family thinks it's due to Atavin (sp?), which was prescribed to him. Side effect is suicidal ideation.

Chester Bennington, lead singer of Linkin Park and friend of Cornell, has also died by suicide.

WTF? I like some of his music but I have no real attachment to him. Way to young...
