I saw a spot for Kick-Ass the other day. I, uh. I don't know what to think, especially now. Before, it seemed like a goofy comedy going for the superhero crowd. Now, I'm really not sure what its target audience is. It's managed to make me curious, though. |

It's a superhero examination/deconstruction comic by Mark Millar and drawn by John Romita Jr. Matthew Vaughn (Stardust, Layer Cake) is directing the film adaptation and has reported taken his time with the funding to ensure that he has complete control, resulting in a film that isn't scared of having an R rating or being shy. |

Seems like an action flick with a gimmick that the girl is the action hero and swears. Which doesnt make it a bad movie, I'm just curious if it's all gimmick or what. |

The film isn't actually called "Hit Girl," and she's not the main character. The film (and the originating series) is called Kick-Ass, after the actual main character. A teenage boy decides to become a "real-life superhero," despite of course not having any powers, training, etc. In his wake, others take up homemade costumes and join the fight, including a disillusioned cop (Big Daddy) and his daughter that he's trained (the aforementioned Hit Girl), and Red Mist. I've never read the book, but it's supposed to be good, and given the writer, it should be. The film adaptation has already screened at a few places, and it's gotten a great reception as well. Wiki article here, but don't read all of the Story section if you don't want the film spoiled (I assume). |

Kick *** is basically a bunch of nobody superheroes that want to make a difference in the world. Hit Girl is just one of them. In the comic, she's like 7 years old or something close to it. Her father has been training her to be a very lethal assassin and more than capable of handling enemies on her own. The guy who says "Who are you?" in the trailer is the superhero the comic/movie is named after: "Kick-Ass." |

that last trailer made me want to see the movie. It seems like a neat take on Mystery Men. |
