I know there are some fans here (I've heard nothing but raves, but have never gotten around to them), so we had a thread about this on a couple of previous Glade incarnations, but they were swallowed, so here's another.

Matt Roush over at TV Guide tweeted this today:

Quote:
HBO programming chief tells me they'll see full pilot of Game of Thrones in 2 wks. Dailies look good; more scripts written. Fingers crossed.

Hah. Totally misread that on first glance. "See the full pilot" isn't "see the whole plot done" in two weeks. I was thinking, the whole book in even two weeks of daily one-hours; that's pretty ambitious, and quite a stretch, even so...

Awesome. Now if he could just write the rest of the damn series.

Wow, Sean Bean is playing Ned. Awesome.

I haven't read the series although I hope to get to it at some point. I just bought the first book for a friend for Christmas though based on Kaffination's raving.

For those interested, you can find some pics of some of the cast on Martin's blog located at http://grrm.livejournal.com/ Note though that rules prohibit him from posting any in-costume pictures or anything of that sort, but it's still something I suppose. :p I am eager!

For reals! I guess he's been so busy with the tv show... and card games... and book tours... and sculptures... and actual swords... and a video game...

I'm a patient man but this is a bit excessive! :p Nevermind that the book was in a large part finished before it started...

So... are they gonna go 8 years between episodes so it can be a realistic experience for the fans?

That trailer annoys me. Hi, if you're just going to show two frames of interesting stuff between a slow zoom in an empty forest, just post **** stills, instead. I don't have the patience to try to pause (especially when I can't go frame by frame) to see if the essentially still shots you're showing look any good.

That said, I am certainly looking forward to this. Assuming, that is, that the trailer is not indicative of the editing style for the action sequences.

That was about the teasiest teaser I have ever seen. :(

It's a bit ironic -- I read that little news article that tells me there's a teaser and, here, watch it! I get pumped!

Then I watch the teaser itself and get unpumped.

My brain and/or the editors behind the teaser have things backwards.

Again I'd like to see this, again I won't buy HBO, but again i'll probably have to grab it when it comes out on dvd.

Way to not tell me ahead of time so I can subscribe, dumbass HBO. Oh well, I'm forced to search on the Internet, instead.

Uh, wow...HBO.com has the promo videos up, but it's getting hammered.

I'm uploading a crappy recorded-off-the-TV-with-my-iPhone version to YouTube if there's anyone who can't wait for the site to stabilize. It's not much, but better than nothing. Still resolving as I type this.

Wow. Must have been some casting updates; I see on Wiki that the actor who played Tommy Carcetti in The Wire is slated to play Petyr Baelish. Awesome casting, IMO. Kind of small physical presence, oozes sleazy politician charm and has the kind of "commands the attention in the room far beyond his merit" personality and presence that I imagine will fit Littlefinger like a glove, if you'll pardon the pun.

Wow. Some of those are fairly far in. (the second one with Tyrion is definitely in the Eyrie) I wonder what the filming schedule is like? I'd kind of assumed we'd see the series developing slowly.. I suppose it could, and I'm just used to network TV's workings, where they only film a handful of episodes out. When your network picks up shows for entire seasons at a time, instead of doing the "often cancels midway through a season so you better not overcommit" thing, I guess you can do that.
